Samsara Trekking offers a day of birding-hike in Nagarjun, Shivapuri National Park, Phulchoki Protected Forest, Champadevi Hills, Sankhu, Sundarijal, Suryabinayak Forest, and Manohara in the Kathmandu Valley throughout the year. The hike, can also, cover spiritual sites; provides spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayan range to the north, as well as a bird’s-eye view of the Kathmandu Valley with its terraced fields. The Birders will gain insight into the everyday lives of the locals. The abundance of flora and fauna, along with rare bird species, highlights the experience. This mindful birding hike is recommended for families with kids and school students. The day birding hike is organized upon request, seven days a week.

What To Expect
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park
The national park is one of the important bird and biodiversity area where over 311 species of birds inhabit including 117 species of migratory birds. Only endemic bird of Nepal, Spiny Babbler, can be sighted in this area. The trails in this hill forest are best known for the sound of the birds and leaves.

5.00Krishna was an amazing guide. I'd highly recommend him to friends looking to go birding in the Kathmandu area. He's passionate about birds and really knows his stuff. I got more than 50 lifers on the trip!

5.00Had a great time birding. Saw hundreds of birds and many species. Spent a good six hours not including driving. The forest is thick and the views from mountain top is superior.

5.00My friend and I went on a day-long birding trip with Krishna from Kathmandu to Phulchoki hill. Everything about the day was perfect. Krishna is a great birder and an excellent guide. We had a great day birding--also great views of the Himalayas!

5.00I spent a Day birding with Krishna Thapa, a delightful young guide and artist. We saw lots of wonderful birds, did some walking and driving up to the top of this small mountain outside of Kathmandu. Also visited the small Temple area at the top. Krishna was very attentive to make sure I saw all the birds, had good a good knowledge of the birds and their calls and behavior, He kept an eBird list which he shared with me which I really appreciated.

5.00We have booked birding tours on international trips and this is the best one so far! The birds were amazing and spectacular! Such diversity! Our guide, Krishna, had tremendous experience and expertise in finding and identifying the birds. He took us to some truly special places. We got to know him a little and found out what a good person he his, using his artistic talents for the benefit of children. We would highly recommend Krishna and Samsara Trekking for birding! 5.00I am a quite experienced birder, and I would say we had a great day at Phulchowki with Krishna. He's a very nice guy and a good birder, and Godavari/Phulchowki is great birding. Highly recommended. I'm attaching some photos to give you an idea, but I didn't get photos of some of the top birds, e.g. Long-tailed Broadbill.

5.00We went bird watching in Godawali forest, about an hour drive south of central Kathmandu. Nepal currently sees 898 species of birds, but this time I was able to see 52 species in one day until I left at 6:30 and returned to Tameru around 16:00. It wasn't a very good day for birdwatching, with chilly overcast skies and fog, but my guide Krishna knew the trees, spots, where birds gather and showed me lots of birds from their calls. He is also said to be a painter who draws on birds and nature. He made a list of the birds I saw that day and sent it to me in no time in the car on the way home, which was a great way to go home and review the guidebook. This time, I suddenly thought of it and applied for a guide three days ago, but I was glad that I got a quick WhatsApp reply and was able to make an appointment in no time.

5.00I had a very pleasant birding tour with Krishna in Phulchowki in early October this year. The location was wisely chosen for high altitude birds as I have just finished my visit to Bardia NP. Krishna is very knowledgeable, punctual and attentive, though we couldn't reach the top part of the mountain due to the poor road conditions, we managed to see 58 species in one day, thank you for the dedicated effort!

5.00Went birding for 2 days together with Krrishna in the Godavari/Pulchoki area - last November. A very good trip in a bird-rich area near to Kathmandu. Krrishna turned out to be not only pleasant company, but also extremely knowledgeable about birds. Despite birds being still on the move before settling for winter, we managed to see about 100 species in just 2 days, which could even have been more if we hadn't be on a cherry-picking mission! Well-done, Krrishna - and thank you once more!

5.00I spent a wonderful day at Shivapuri National Park with Prem. I was very excited to see Nepalese birds. Prem knows the birds perfectly well. He knows how to attract them. He did everything to make sure I could see them and even take pictures of them. We walked about fifteen kilometers through the beautiful park. In search of birds. I came home exhausted, delighted, and brought back many pictures of birds! Thank you Prem for a wonderful day! Lili
