Salt Pier
Using Bonaire's salt, sea and wind, salt accumulates in impressive crystal formations. Bonaire's salt pyramids can be seen upon arrival by sea or air, each about 50 feet high and containing about 10,000 tons of 99.6% pure salt. The salt pier juts out into the Caribbean and is where the salt is transferred from the pile to the boats that will transport the salt around the world.

we paid through Viator. we got to the pick up site and we're told we had to wait so they could fill more seats. 30 minutes past time we left. then we found out the other passengers paid way less than we did. tour was disappointing...

The Guide/driver was amazing as she was passionate and proud of Bonaire! Her knowledge of the island was extensive. She made our trip memorable. The vehicle is open with no windows so take a scarf as you'll feel the wind! The bright and colourful bus was so much fun. It was 1 of the highlights of our cruise. Thankyou

Sergio was a great tour guide. Showed us spots we didn't expect to see. Was accommodating to everything we wanted to see.

Oh, that was a nice tour. Kiki told a lot, the bus itself is great. I liked the South the best. With all the surfers.

A bit lacking in information during the drive, but the trip was interesting and the beach was fairly good. Shallow entry but soon deep enough for snorkeling.

It was more of a regular transportation experience than a tour. We had hired a guide in Spanish and there was no availability, the driver did the function of guide, but the truth was little understood, the sound was regular. A couple of stops were made to take photos and the final destination was on a public beach for those who wanted to stay. They did not offer water or any drink as indicated on the service voucher. Chair service is paid for. Additionally the cost of the tour on site was only USD25, they are government regulated rates. When making the claim we were not refunded for the differential charged on platform. For that price it is better to contract with another agency in a transport of better conditions and with a real guide in the requested language or take a taxi and go to a better beach.

A very good way to see the island. 2 hour tour, and 2 hours at a beautiful beach. We did find out once we got to the tour kiosk we could have had the same tour for $25 versus the $39 we Paid on Viator. I didn’t not regret the decision as if they had been sold out, we would have missed the tour. We had KiKi as our tour guide and driver and she was excellent.

The first half of this tour was spectacular and exceeded expectations. It was not a full two hours however. The second half was a bit disappointing as we were put in an unexpected situation at the beach. The first half was an excellent guided tour with lots of information and educational stops. We saw wild donkeys, lots of flamingos, the salt flats, the slave huts, the driftwood art. I originally intended to do this trip solo but met someone on the cruise ship who joined me at last minute. First she paid $15 less than I did by booking last minute, and second she was told beach chairs at the beach were included in the price. The tour was in an open sided bus which was great for pictures and scenery but very windy, so be prepared. Our guide was very knowledgable. There were only four of us on the bus and we were surprised when we were confronted with a dilemma at the beach.... two of the four wanted to go back immediately. The main reason I had booked this tour was for the two hours of beach time. Especially as a solo traveller I was attracted to the fact that I would be taken to a beach and then taken back to the ship. We were offered a 'deal' since the driver said it was not worth their while to take the two back to town and then come back at get us. She would give us back $5 which is the same price as taking a cab back to town. I am well-travelled as is the person who joined me last minute, so we took the deal and made our own way back. Had I been alone however, I would have been very unhappy and I am not sure what the resolution would have been. The beach chairs were NOT free - $10 each but included showers and change rooms. The beach was very busy with people learning to foil and windsurf so you had to keep an eye out while swimming. Taxis were coming and going but the driver initially wanted $10 a person to go back to the ship. Overall a happy ending for me but I want others to know what happened so you can make sure to know what to expect before you climb aboard. We were the only ship in Bonaire that day, so it might be worth your while to wait til you get in port and book something last minute on the street. Otherwise, as I said in the title ... half good, half unexpected but overall a good day for us. We are confident and gutsy.

It was a very expensive price when buying the tour online (38 dollars), when on the island you get 25 dollars. The driver didn’t speak Spanish (even though all the tourists were Latino), he brought the music at full volume, and his explanation was very precarious, very bad tour guide. It really was a shuttle service with some stops, poor explanation of the sites and also did not give the water they promised. The driver was carrying the music so loudly, it makes me think he's losing his hearing and nobody's noticed... It definitely didn't meet our expectations.

Tour was good, but driver wanted to drop us off at the beach and not return to pick us up. She said it would be a $5 cab ride back to the cruise port (per person), but we saw no cabs in the lot, so we all went back to the ship. Felt like we only got half the tour. Would not recommend. I realize it costs them to drive back to the beach to pickup, but this is their problem to deal with, and she made it our problem. There were 9 of us on this tour, so I think they could have sent the bus back for us.
