What To Expect
Boyana Church
The trip begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 11:00. Your journey will take you to the Boyana Church - a unique museum with orthodox frescoes of saints and unique images of the local aristocracy, which mark a peak in the painting school of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The unique frescoes for the era mark the beginning of the pre-Renaissance period in painting in Europe in 1259, 50 years before Giotto in Italy.
Pancharevo Lake
After the church visit, you will have free time for a lunch break and then you will spend the rest of the day at the lake by the largest water reservoir in Bulgaria. Situated between two mountains, the area around the lake has a picturesque eco-trail, conditions for non-motorized water sports such as boating, kayaking and water cycling, as well as a unique complex with healing mineral water. The mineral water is crystal clear and extremely suitable for the treatment of joint, bone, urological, gynecological and neurological diseases. The water temperature in the pools is between 35°C and 39°C, depending on the season and weather conditions. The spa complex has an outdoor and indoor pool with mineral water, a sauna, a steam bath and a jacuzzi. The stay in the spa complex is about 3.5 hours The expected return in your hotel is at 18:00.

5.00This spa tour to Pancharevo Lake combined with a visit to Boyana Church was one of the highlights of my trip to Bulgaria. It offered the perfect balance of relaxation, nature, and history. The spa experience at Pancharevo was exceptional. The private and exclusive mineral water springs were peaceful and beautifully maintained, making it easy to fully unwind. The mineral water is naturally warm and rich in minerals, and after soaking, I genuinely felt relief in my back and knees—a wonderful benefit after days of walking and sightseeing. Having a private setting made the experience feel luxurious and uncrowded. Pancharevo Lake itself is stunning, surrounded by greenery and mountains, adding to the calming atmosphere. It’s a great escape from the city while still being very close to Sofia. The tour also included a visit to Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built mainly in the 10th–13th centuries, the church is famous for its incredibly well-preserved medieval frescoes from 1259, which are considered a masterpiece of European art due to their realism and emotional depth. Despite its small size, the church is historically powerful and absolutely worth seeing. Overall, this tour is perfect for anyone who wants to relax, enjoy nature, and learn about Bulgaria’s rich cultural heritage in one day. Highly recommended!
