Visit a cozy café in Bratislava’s Old Town to enjoy Slovak wines from small, family-owned producer. Savor the distinct flavors of local vintages in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Slovakia, especially the Bratislava region and southern Slovakia, has a rich winemaking history dating back to Roman times. The vineyards are located on the hillsides of the Small Carpathian Mountains surrounding Bratislava. The Small Carpathian Wine Road begins in Bratislava’s Rača district and ends in Slovakia’s ‘Little Rome,’ a city of Trnava located 50 km from the capital. A visit to Bratislava would not be complete without sampling its delicious cuisine and experiencing the unique flavors of its local wines, which remain a ‘hidden gem’ of Slovakia. During our wine tasting, you’ll have the opportunity to savor and distinguish between four traditional wines from a small local producer in the nearby village of Limbach, just outside Bratislava. The experience is complemented by a selection of small canapés, a traditional snack enjoyed with a glass of wine.

This self-guided wine tasting includes 4 wines and a heavy snack (open-faced sandwich). There is no sommelier, which allows for more timing flexibility. You do get a placemat that describes the wines.

We booked a lunchtime wine tasting at Spusta Cafe in Sedlarka Street. It was brilliant. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. We were given tasting notes to help us enjoy our four tasting wines which included a dry and a semi dry white, a rose and a red. Each one was very enjoyable including the semi dry which wasn’t sweet and had real flavour. The canapés were attractive and tasty. I would definitely repeat the experience. It was fun, interesting and exceptionally good value. Oh and they gave us a discount of 10% on the wine we bought in the shop - a nice little bonus!

Loved this tasting. It was in Spusta cafe where the staff impressed us with their hard work, cheerful attitudes, and perfect fluency in the many languages of their guests. We came for the wine tasting which was self-led, and that suited our needs well. We could taste at our own pace, linger over the wines, learn about them from the information sheet or by looking them up online with the free WiFi, and it was very laid back. This was just what we wanted. Canapés came with the tasting, and both the pours and the canapés came in generous portion. We lingered a while after the tasting to enjoy some of the pastries—we highly recommend the carmel apple pie which was simply heavenly. Overall, it was a great experience, we recommend this activity.

You basically sit in a restaurant on your own tasting 4 wines!! I thought it would be a lot different with an expert or something

This was a lovely way to explore Slovakian wines. I had two whites, a rose and a red wine to try, which were paired with a savoury snack. Information was provided about Slovakian wines and tasting notes for the four wines was provided.

We had difficulties to find the place as the address does not state the business name. We misread the experience thinking it would be a group wine tasting but it was just me and my friend randomly picking a table in a bar. Although, we could taste very nice wines having a paper to guide us and have one large snack each which was good.
