This workshop takes place in a real jewelry studio and store, where guests work at the bench with the makers behind Mesteshukar Butiq. The craft is inspired by traditional Roma craftsmanship, combined with contemporary techniques, so the experience feels like being welcomed into someone’s everyday creative work rather than a staged class. With a maximum of four guests, there is time for personal guidance, a calm pace, and a design that reflects you, from the first sketch to the final polish.

"Step into the working studio of Mesteshukar Butiq in Bucharest and make your own piece of jewelry from brass or copper, guided by the makers. You’ll begin with a short, friendly design conversation to decide what to create, such as a ring, earrings, bracelet, or pendant. Bring your own idea or take inspiration from the jewelry displayed in the shop. Then you’ll craft your piece step by step: cutting the metal with shears or a jeweler’s saw, filing and refining the shape, learning basic soldering, and using hammering to form or add texture. To finish, you’ll buff and polish your jewelry until it feels complete. You’ll leave with a finished piece made by your own hands, either to wear yourself or to gift."

I attended this workshop today with Amir, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my time in Romania. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and creative. The workshop takes place in a real working studio, giving you the chance to experience a traditional craft process firsthand. We each chose a design at the beginning and were then guided through every step of creating our own piece, learning techniques and working with the materials ourselves. What made the experience especially meaningful was leaving with a beautiful piece that I had made with my own hands. Knowing that these traditional designs are crafted from materials such as brass and copper made it feel even more connected to the local culture and heritage. It is something I will treasure for years as a reminder of my time in Bucharest. Romania has such a rich tradition of craftsmanship, and this workshop offers a wonderful way to experience that heritage through making rather than simply observing. Whether you are travelling solo, with a partner, or with friends, and whether you are naturally creative or trying something new for the first time, the experience is accessible, enjoyable, and deeply rewarding. A special thank you to Amir, who was a wonderful host and teacher. His warmth, patience, and guidance made the entire experience feel relaxed and enjoyable from beginning to end. If you are looking for an authentic, hands-on experience in Bucharest and want to take home something far more meaningful than a souvenir bought in a store, I cannot recommend this workshop highly enough.
