What To Expect
Kamal Safari Bundala Park
You will be entering the Bundala Biosphere Reserve to feast your eyes on over a hundred common, rare and endangered migratory birds that make their temporary homes. Make sure to bring your cameras and binoculars because you will also get to see a number of colorful butterfly species, various mammals, amphibians and more. The rich ecosystem of the swampy marshes will open up a whole new world for you to see and learn about.You will be traveling in a multi-terrain(4WD) game vehicle. About the Park: Bundala National Park Lies in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.It was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1969, and became a national park in 1993.Between the months of May-July,especially, these habitats become the nesting and breeding grounds of thousands of migratory birds.It has nearly 400 species of plants, around 200 species of birds - 58 of which are migratory, 32 species of mammals, 48 species of reptiles, 15 species of amphibians, 32 species of fish, and 52 species of butterflies.

5.00Prompt pickup for a morning drive into Bundala Park. Excellent quality/condition of safari jeep. Driver was very professionally friendly, also very knowledgeable about the area and birds sharing information as we were driving to the gate. Excellent time had with no rushing around and an intuitive understanding of spending time observing but knowing when to move on. Some of the roads within the park are a bit rugged but our driver really handled the vehicle extremely well, no rough treatment. Had a great volunteer guide with us. Totally enjoyed our safari.

5.00Booked this safari on line. Went this morning (12march 2024) at 6am. Prompt pickup from our hotel. Vehicle was in good condition and our driver really treated the vehicle well. He was also knowledgeable about the birds and stopped to tell us about some of what we were seeing even before we had reached the park, and collected our guide. He also seemed to know almost without us saying anything, when it was time to move on. Beautiful park for bird life - truly amazing. The larger animals we saw; jackals, buffalo, spotted deer, blackfaced grey langurs, and macaques were a bonus on top of all the bird sightings. As for the beach view point - what a gorgeous surprise.
