What To Expect

1

Erg Chebbi Dunes

Hospitable and friendly nomads, who are experienced guides, will accompany you on the whole trip. They know the desert well and will share traditions and culture from the nomadic life style. We will prepare all the necessary equipment, like tents, cooking equipment, food and drinks etc. During the days you will walk and ride on camels. In the afternoons, before the sun sets, you find a suitable place to set up a provisional camp for the night. The nomads set up the tents and cook dinner and tea on the camp fire. After dinner they play the traditional drums and sing and you are welcome to sing along. Sleep in a tent or outside under the stars. In the mornings the nomads prepare breakfast, before you continue the trekking into the desert. This is a unique opportunity to experience the desert silence, the freedom and be surrounded by amazing nature with spectacular sunsets and starlit nights.

It was an amazing experience and I would recommend everyone stay a night or two in the desert. Riding a camel is certainly an experience.

The camel trek was a good experience and what we expected. The camp was unorganized and we were given no info on what to expect. The food was really slow to come out and staff were inattentive and forgetful. It seems that some of the staff had been smoking some hash.

  • Sanddunes Erg Chebbi worth a visit

Thumbs up for this excursion and our guide Murat. Bit onfortunately that he didn't speak much English or French, so the conversation wasn't great, but nevertheless he was a great host. As it was low season, we were just the two of us. Later joined by 8 other guests. On our way to the bivac we had two stops, one of them to see the sunset. the first one wasn't completely necessary to us, but maybe it was good to do so my back wouldn't hurt too much on arriving?! The biggest surprise was the tentplace: kind of luxury in the middle of the dessert, with real beds, a sanitary bloc and even a dining tent! The diner was superb and way too much. What a nice dishes! to us the best dinner at the best spot possible during our trip in Marocco. The possibility to have a shower at the hotel when we were back, was great.

Amazing experience! The team treated me so well after I drove to Merzouga to start the tour. An hour long ride by camel out into the dunes was very cool. Then watching the sunset was glorious. Our dinner was delicious and more than I could eat. Gazing at the stars out next to the fire was so peaceful. Watching the Berber's make music was mesmerizing and they had so much fun playing and including us. A comfortable night's sleep and then an early morning to climb the dunes. The sunrise from the dunes was so moving I cried. The sand changed colors as the sun rose. BEAUTIFUL!! Then a downhill walk to a great breakfast and a camel ride back to town. My only thoughts are how I can come back and who can I bring to share this experience with next time. THANK YOU!!

The trip went exactly as described, which was perfect for us. Met at the Auberge which had plenty of room for parking overnight. About 6 other guests met there as well and we departed on time on the camels about an hour before sunset. I guess the camel walk took about an hour as well and we watched sunset from the top of the dunes around the camping area. Dinner was later, after 8 I think, and was a very delicious typical Tajine. My friend and I are vegetarian and they accommodated us by making a veggie Tajine. There was traditional music later that they played and then we went to bed in the tents. Woke up for sunrise and took a shorter route back to the auberge in the morning.

Whatsapp is a very good way to communicate with them if you dont have a local phone number.
