Villadangos del Paramo
The leg from León to Villadangos del Páramo leaves the city behind to enter open plains and quiet villages. An ideal transitional day to gather pace on the French Way.
Astorga
The stage from Villadangos del Paramo to Astorga proceeds through flat lands until reaching the historic maragata city. Astorga welcomes the pilgrim with its impressive cathedral and the Episcopal Palace of Gaudí.
Rabanal del Camino
The stage from Astorga to Rabanal del Camino marks the entrance into the region of Maragatería, with increasingly mountainous landscapes. Quaint and peaceful, Rabanal offers the perfect atmosphere to relax before facing the climb to the Ferro Cross.
Molinaseca
The stage from Rabanal del Camino to Molinaseca crosses the mythical Ferro Cross and descends the mountain between spectacular views. Molinaseca, with its medieval bridge and rural charm, offers a special welcome to the pilgrim.
Villafranca del Bierzo
The stage from Molinaseca to Villafranca del Bierzo runs through fertile valleys and vineyards of the Bierzo, passing through Ponferrada and its imposing Templar castle. Villafranca welcomes the pilgrim with its rich heritage and the emblematic Puerta del Perdón.
The stage from Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro is one of the most demanding on the French Way, with a long ascent of the mountain. O Cebreiro, with its beatings and breathtaking views, marks the entrance into Galicia.
Triacastela
The journey from O Cebreiro to Triacastela crosses green mountains and picturesque Galician villages. A course of great natural beauty that combines gentle descents with panoramic stretches.
Sarria
The stage from Triacastela to Sarria offers two routes: through Samos, with its historic monastery, or through San Xil, shorter and more rural. Sarria is the most popular starting point for those looking to complete the last 100 km to Santiago.
Portomarin
The stage from Sarria to Portomarín runs through forests, villages and medieval bridges, offering a varied and picturesque start. Portomarín, next to the reservoir, stands out for its church-fortress and its history linked to the Camino.
Palas de Rei
The stage from Portomarín to Palas de Rei combines gentle ascents with rural stretches between meadows and forests. Palas de Rei is a historic town, traditional meeting point for pilgrims on the French Way.
Arzua
The stage from Pallas de Rei to Arzúa crosses small villages and rural landscapes, passing through the medieval village of Melide, famous for its octopus. Arzúa welcomes the pilgrim with its hospitality and cheese with Denomination of Origin.
O Pedrouzo
The stage from Arzúa to O Pedrouzo runs through shady paths and quiet villages, in a comfortable and relaxed route. Or Pedrouzo is the last big break before arrival in Santiago de Compostela.
Santiago de Compostela
The stage from O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela is experienced with excitement, crossing forests and Lavacolla before reaching Monte do Gozo. The entrance to the Plaza del Obradoiro marks the end of the Camino and the time to receive the Compostela.
Santiago de Compostela
