The walking tour departs from The Westin Hotel in Lower Long Street at 9:00am as we make our way to the Bartolomeu Dias monument in Adderley Street Cape Town Central. The tour guide will share stories about this important figure in South Africa's history. From there we proceed to the monuments of Jan Van Riebeeck and Zacharias Wagenaer, before we continue past the Castle of Good Hope. As one of the oldest building in South Africa, built between 1666 and 1679, the Castle of Good Hope has been the center of civilian, political and military life at the Cape from approximately 1679. We continue on this walking tour of Cape Town city centre, past the City Hall where Nelson Mandela made his first speech as a free man. From the City Hall we take a walk past Parliament, the Slave Lodge, Company Gardens, Cathedral, St. Georges Mall and Greenmarket Square. Our last attraction will be in the Bo-Kaap where we will take some photos with the colourful houses.
The tour culminates with lunch at AfroDeli Eatery in Long Street or Meeting Point in Strand Street. This is a wonderful way to experience authentic African cuisine. Once you have completed your lunch, you and your tour group will part ways after an interesting 5 hours.

We had a great day with Isaac walking around Cape Town. Obviously, wear good walking shoes because we walked 4 to 5 hours. We were with my 83 year-old mother-in-law so we did find a bench along the way to stop and sit in the shade for a few minutes. But, I don’t recommend you taking an 83 year-old, mine walks like she’s 60. Fortunately, we were the only four people on this walking tour so we weren’t rushed. We went by the castle of Good Hope, but the tour didn’t go in. If we had more time, we would go back there and see that. We did go into the district 6 museum, which was a really interesting museum, and I snapped this picture of a recipe that was embroidered on the fabric to try when I got home. The tour is mostly flat except for the hill up to Bo- kaap (a former racially segregated neighborhood) that is now very colorfully painted in the home of an ancient mosque from the 1800s). Ended at a small restaurant with authentic food. You will have the opportunity to be as adventurous as you want. You could have Bunny chow, Mopani worm or Ox trotters (yep, these are exactly what you think they are). You will not find this by the waterfront, but you will find lots of locals eating here. For the less adventurous, you can have a cheeseburger on a brioche bun. The lunch is included, so go crazy! We had great weather, but I would still recommend that you bring a water bottle.

Terrific and engaging tour of Cape Town. Fiston, our guide, showed us all the famous sites as well as many less well known ones. He was knowledgeable of the extensive local history that makes Cape Town so unique and connected that history to each site we visited. He was thoughtful and patient in answering our many questions, providing insight on Cape Town's past present and future. To top it off, a wonderful African meal that was delicious. A wonderful way to get to know Cape Town.
