A great insight into vibrant township life as well as street art and local artists. A gentle walk from budding coffee roasters and cafe through the market and then to a small art hub via the mix of housing. Great explanations on the way. Perfect balance between informative and tourism. We felt perfectly safe with a guide who was obviously know and knew the community Thank you for sharing this wonderful place

It was a very impressive experience, contrary to thought and extremely worthwhile. You actually get an impression of life in the township. The people we met - and there were many - were very friendly. Really highly recommended. Keep going.

Thank you for the impressive tour of Khayelitsha, the many fascinating explanations about the community, the collaboration of so many artists with the common goal of making art more visible to many people and, above all, showing children many new perspectives. Katrin & Haakon

Creat and safe way to explore the biggest township of Cape Town. I learned a lot and truly got inspired. People were so friendly and open every place we went. The streetart is divers and interesting and it's fun to search for small paintings. My highlight, however, have been the female athletes and the whole intiative of Khaltsha ❤️🎨🚴🏿♀️ I highly recommend it!

This was a tour my siblings and I will never forget. First off, my thanks to Juma with helping us arrange transportation from Khayelitsha to our next destination. We arranged transport into the township and met with Juma, Nomonde, and his wonderful staff. After arriving, we were greeted by kids who were studying and doing after-school programs at Juma’s bike shop. We then proceeded into the shopping district to go see the many art murals throughout the town. All throughout the tour we felt completely safe. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We learned so much insight from Nomonde into the history of the area, the people, and the culture. I also do not exaggerate here when I say the coffee from Siki’s was one of the best I had in Cape Town. His dirty chai was absolute lekker. Shout out to Nomonde for showing us around. She has immense pride in her hometown. It’s a wonderful community, and shares a kinship and a sense of togetherness that the rest of the world could greatly benefit from. We will take this experience to heart and I wish Nomonde, Juma, and everyone else we met good health and a bright future.

This was one of my highlights of my four weeks here in Cape Town. Right from the start at the incredible Siki’s Kofee Kafe, the stories, the symbolism and the spirit of Khayelitsha were so captivating. My guide, Lakak UManinzi, shared wonderful insights about life in this township, including in the informal settlements. He is a self-taught artist with a beautiful lens to the world around him. He showed me the many murals that are themselves an act of resistance, took me to a program that seeks to uplift girls in this community and brought me to a small art collective he co-founded. We laughed together in some fun moments, but it’s the deep conversations I’ll never forget.

We received a very insightful look into life in Khayelitsha with our guide, who explained the history and current initiatives in the township. We felt safe and welcomed everywhere we went. Highly recommend this tour to give visitors a perspective into the other side of South Africa that visitors often miss.

Very nice and educational experience. Well organized, lots of information about life in the Township. People are very nice and are glad you came by. It’s important to ask people before taking pictures (they’re usually fine with it). Also a good idea to buy small toys for the children. The older girls/women were very happy with nail polish. Really worth it!

What an incredible experience! Meeting local businesses and immersing myself in the communities of Khayelitsha was truly eye-opening. On top of that, the art tour was both fun and inspiring—not just for the art itself, but for the way it supports and uplifts the local community. Would definitely recommend! Thank you so much for the tour.

The tour was supported by Boity and Thulani. We have done the walking tour which gave us some great insights in the daily lives in the Township of Khayelitsha. Besides visiting local entrepreneurs (e.g. Sikis Coffee Bar) we have seen some great art. Also we have been informed about the cycling project for the local girls. Boity is the team leader of this team. A great example of building opportunities. If you want to get the correct insights in how a Township is set up, organized and a source for great futures, you must take this chance to contribute to their success.
