Jason made every single moment of our tour exceptional. He has a fantastic knowledge of birds (by their calls and morphology) and is very friendly. We had a wonderful day learning from him. He spots birds so quickly and accurately! This was the the experience of a lifetime! We will definitely try to book a tour with him on our next visit to Costa Rica.

We spent a wonderful day with Jason at Carara National Park and surrounding areas. He is a great guide and host. We started the day at a site he knew that had trees filled with parakeets, offering a cacophony of bird sounds to wake us up for the day ahead. Another site he knew had nesting scarlet macaws, offering a very up-close experience viewing the birds. Still another had a family of bat falcons. There were macaws near this site as well, until the bat falcons chased them away directly over our heads. We saw orange collared manakins doing their dance - a ritual he was able to describe in detail - and the long tailed manakin posing regally in a tree. Jason was adept at identifying birds by call and tracking them down for our viewing. And he is a gregarious and hospitable traveling companion, providing us with a delicious breakfast and lunch and a plentiful array of snacks and drinks throughout the day. We're very glad to have had the opportunity to spend the day with him.

Jason is an absolutely awesome guide! He guided my wife and me for two of the very best birding days of our lives! In addition to Carara National Park, he took us to multiple other birding locations which we would never have found on our own and which were ever birdier than Carara! His ability to spot birds AND to recognize their calls is unparalleled, so we were able to see way more of our target species than we expected PLUS rarities too. Add to that all of the snacks and drinks that he carries in his "kitchen", his great choice of lunch spots, and his tremendous (and infectious) enthusiasm for birding... Jason is a gem! I will be recommending his services to all of my friends who travel to Costa Rica! Thanks again for a great time! Pura vida, Jason!!

We spent the day with Jason, the owner of Wakoo Tours and our birding expert for the trip. Jason picked us up at 5:30 am in Jaco and we started identifying birds almost immediately. We then went to Carara National Park and birded along the trails. Jason is an outstanding birder and guide. He knows the Park and it's birds, where they hang out, and their behaviors. He uses a top-level spotting scope with a cell phone mount to get videos and images. He did a great job setting up the scope for us, but remember to bring your own binoculars! He took us to lunch at a local buffet and we had the best casado we've had during our stay. After lunch and espressos, we did more birding until 3:30 pm. Jason kept track of all our positive IDs for us, then verified them afterwards - over 100 new species for us! Jason also took great care of us, providing hot coffee, tea, cold water and sodas, and healthy snacks. If it matters, he uses a very comfortable, clean SUV with AC. Overall, we had an incredible day birding with Jason and we hope to join him again at Manuel Antonio in April.

We hired Wakoo Tours for a birding day trip in Puntarenas, Costa Rica including Carara National Park and Tarcoles River. Jason was waiting for us when our cruise ship docked at port. We walked up to a super clean and spacious SUV with cold AC and an ice chest packed with cold drinks. Jason’s birding skills were amazing including identifying all birds by sound so that they were all quickly located. In addition to birding, Jason had an extensive knowledge of all types of nature including flora and fauna any type of wildlife. Jason is very skilled in cell phone and camera apps combined with his scope allowed for phenomenal photos and videos which he shared with us. Absolutely Wonderful day!

Had a wonderful trip to Carara national park with our guide Jason. Jason is so knowledgeable when it comes to birding. Within minutes we had seen many different birds. We also saw a troops of Howler and Capuchin monkeys. But I really wanted to see the Scarlet Macaws, close up, perched in trees. Jason knew exactly where to find them. Within minutes he had driven us to a site where Scarlet Macaws were nesting. There I was able to get good close up shots of five Scarlet Macaws. Then Jason took us to another site where there were even more Scarlet Macaws. I was so delighted to see so many Scarlet Macaws up close. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would highly recommend Jason.

This was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! I don’t think you can find a better guide than Jason. He’s so knowledgeable and personable. We loved the day so much we booked another day of birding with Jason! Can’t recommend this tour and guide enough! We saw over 75 bird species!

I did an all-day private tour of Carara National Park and had a very memorable experience. Jason is an outstanding guide. He has sharp eyes and hearing so we pretty much saw 99% of the birds we were after. Jason is also really fun to hang out with. He's personable, hospitable, and passionate about giving you the best experience. He's crafted his tour so you get the best of three types of habitats and local hotspots (not to mention the best places in Carara). I'm a serious birder, so he provided the intensity I was looking for. I can see Jason being a terrific guide for all levels though. I am recommending Jason to all the Birders I know that plan on visiting Costa Rica. I also plan on returning to Costa RIca specifically to do another Birding Tour with Jason.

We had Jason as our guide in Manuel Antonio and enjoyed him so much we asked him to guide us on a tour in Carara. He did not disappoint. We saw amazing animals (Macaus, golden sparrows, large rat, and even a rare ghost bat) and learned about the forest, ecosystem, and country as a whole. He picked a spot less frequented by visitors to get a more intimate experience. He’s very knowledgeable and passionate about nature. I highly recommend him.
