After filling our canteens with the pure water of the Botorog Fountain, we will go to the impressive Gorges of Zarnesti, with its more than 100 meters high. We will go up through the forest to the valley and from there we will continue to Cabaña Curmatura where we will make a break to eat. After the stop, we will go down the Zanoaga plain to reach the starting point following a different route.

Piatra Craiului National Park
This is a circular route that starts and ends in the Piatra Craiului National Park and a perfect opportunity to visit the impressive Gorges of Zarnesti. The excursion follows this route: Fantana lui Botorog - Prapastiile Zarnestilor - Cabana Curmatura (1470 m) - Poiana Zanoaga - Fantana lui Botorog. Technical characteristics of the excursion: Approximate distance 15 kmts. Total ascent: + -700 m. Total descent: + -580 m. Essential: good physical preparation and adequate mountain equipment (mountain boot, waterproof clothing, ...).

We did a day trip and, although the weather did not accompany us, we loved the experience, visited the bear shelter, took a spectacular route through Piatra Craiului and ate homemade food aloft in a shelter. Nacho accompanied us and told us all about Romania, its history and vampire legends. If we come back, we repeat for sure. Spectacular.

5.00Unbeatable. Spectacular. And I fall short. Nacho is the best guide I’ve ever had and I’ve been traveling for over 30 years. He and his wife, Ioanna, treated us like friends at all times, being close without losing a hint of professionalism. Your punctuality and honesty are already a value in itself, but also your knowledge of the language and country are amazing. On cultural visits Nacho will tell you things few guides know about art and history. Ioanna, moreover, being a Romanian, will explain to you uses and customs that only a native can know. As for hiking, Nacho took us along such beautiful routes that will leave you open-mouthed and flexible to adapt them to your needs. As if I weren’t away, he is an exceptional photographer and a very funny and enthusiastic person who makes you enjoy every moment. In addition, they helped us to organize other parts of our trip even if we were already free and have been available to us at all times, even making sure we arrived well at our next destination. It has been a real pleasure to meet both Nacho and his wife, we could not be in better hands.

Unsurpassed by Nacho’s organization and travel philosophy, our “Romanian” guide, who has demonstrated great experience in travel planning and, on the other hand, great friendliness, flexibility and dedication. The pleasure of traveling with the five senses through Romania, a country that offers a very good combination of cultural heritage and scenic beauty: we discover the spectacular Carpathian Mountains (their flora and fauna), their important history and, in addition, with surprising facts and anecdotes, their rich and incredible gastronomy, their way of life still in harmony with the environment.... Thanks to Hola Transylvania and, of course, THANKS to Nacho, our trip has been unforgettable and very complete. 5.00Wonderful excursion with Nacho through Piatra Craiului with lots of snow and beautiful scenery. Path well chosen by our guide, who also equipped us with a blessed leggings and mountain poles. Along the way we learned many things about Romania in general and, on the way down, we were like entertaining girls with the story of Vlad Dracul enlivened by Nacho. Great day:)

5.00We did the excursion in Pietra Craiului park with Nacho and it was a fantastic experience! The snowy trail was wonderful, and enlivened it by telling us legends of the country. Very careful in the details, he lent us snow material and carried snacks and water. I would certainly repeat and make more excursions with him. Un 10!

5.00When we were organizing our trip, we were not sure what experiences to book and how lucky ours was that the Hello Transylvania blog appeared. It has slipped into our Trips Top without any doubt❤️ If Romania is being a discovery for us, the excursion with Nacho has made it even more special and unforgettable 🫶🏻 We have made the visit to the bear sanctuary and hiking trail through Zarnesti Gorge with a technical stop in Cabana Curmatura. Nacho has accompanied us in the Sanctuary and explained everything great. It has been impressive to see the bears so close and to know how the sanctuary works and the history behind it has been very interesting. The route with Nacho through the Carpathians: a 10. The route itself is beautiful, it has made us an autumn day with amazing sunshine, the views are a pass and Nacho makes everything so easy and fun! It's been like being with a friend or family member. This man is charming no matter where you look, and I don’t mean it alone, say other very humble and intelligent people (inside joke) 😆 Good photographer, good guide and conversationalist, good humor 🙌🏻 I wish him everything was great, because he deserves it and so much. A great job that these 5 stars deserve well. If we repeat Romania, we will repeat Hello Transylvania 💙
