El Getsemanicense
one of the most traditional and emblematic neighborhoods of Cartagena de Indias, located right next to the walled Historic Center. It was formerly a popular and important place in the independence movements, as social and political struggles brewed there. Today, Gethsemane retains its cultural and community essence, mixing history, urban art and local life. Its colorful streets, full of murals, squares and music, make it a very attractive tourist spot, known for its bohemian atmosphere, its typical gastronomy and its Carthagean authenticity.
Walled City of Cartagena
The historic and colonial quarter of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built between the 16th and 18th centuries by the Spanish as a defensive system against pirates and invaders, with stone walls, strongholds and forts that are still preserved. Inside the walled city are cobblestone streets, colonial houses with florid balconies, historic squares, churches and museums. Today it is the cultural and tourist heart of Cartagena, a place full of history, architecture and tradition, where local life, gastronomy, art and music combine.

Andres was an exceptional guide. Not only did the take you to authentic Cartagena food, but he included stops you requested. The stops were all of flavorful food samples.

Andres was a wonderful tour guide. He took us to several local spots for Apres, frozen fruit popsicle (American term cause I can’t remember the Spanish word), coffee, fresh fruits, plantains with cheese and candy! It was all amazing.

Andres was an absolute gem! Very knowledgeable and knew how to answer every question. We tried many different snacks and drinks - arepas, fried plantain, various sweets and breads - and left quite full. Our guide was constantly checking in to make sure we weren’t too full or if we wanted anything more. Thanks for a memorable experience!

I should have scheduled this tour on the 1st day of our arrival. Learn from my mistake and don’t skip this tour. A truly authentic experience of Cartagena street food. The Coconut icee at the 1st stop was the perfect beginning of our tour. Not only do you get to try the amazing food and drinks, but you also get to learn about the different neighborhoods of Gethsemeni and the Walled City. Mafi and Christian did an incredible job and spoke English very well. You even have time to take pictures. We were very full at the end of the tour. From coffee to arepas to candies and beer, the best plantains with cheese, it balances sweet and savory. Bring money to buy extras to bring home with you. This tour will not disappoint.
