Full, but worthwhile day with both the scenery from the bus and the destinations well worth doing. Lorenzo was friendly, knowledgeable and well organised. The driver (whose name unfortunately I can’t spell) knew alternative routes to minimise holiday weekend traffic jams from affecting time at the destinations. Nice surprise that drinks were purchasable on the bus. On busy days I’d suggest foregoing delays at the base of Neuschwanstein access road cafes to get to the bridge in that the queue, once at the bridge, took 40 min to actually walk onto the bridge. It’s a full day. Time is a premium!

We were originally booked on this tour, but a day before we were informed that the tour was cancelled. We were offered a VIP tour of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles instead at no extra cost which we accepted because we had no other options. While we were disappointed not to be going to Hohenschwangau, Linderhof didn’t disappoint and we did get to see the exterior of Hohenschwangau from Neuschwanstein. Our guide, Christine, was wonderful as was our driver, Agron. The local guide at Linderhof, Frederick, was very knowledgeable and interesting. The grounds are beautiful with statuary, gardens, and a water feature. It’s the smallest of the three castles but probably the most opulent. Neuschwanstein, besides being beautiful exteriorly, is well appointed in the interior. Our only disappointment was that the tour of the castle went too quickly and a lot of the items in the rooms were not explained and we seemed to rush through the rooms. Of course, there were many tours at the castle, so one can understand that much time can’t be taken in each room, but we just would have liked a bit more time. There’s plenty of walking on this tour, some hills and a lot of steps so wear comfortable shoes! The ride from Munich took us through some beautiful Alpine scenery and we even had a drive through Oberammagau and saw the murals painted on the houses there. Charming.

A unique experience. It is also interesting to be able to visit Hohenschwangau as part of this castle combination.

Thank you so much for this wonderful tour! I traveled in a small group and got to visit two magnificent castles. The tour guide told us a lot along the way and took care of the admission tickets. The tour was tiring, but very memorable. I’ll look back on it positively and would definitely recommend this tour to others.
