Can highly recommend Chester on a plate. Steph the tour guide is such a lovely person, and very knowledgeable. It was nice to wander through the medieval streets and listen to historically facts and stories , whilst enjoying independently produced food and drink on route. It really is a thoroughly enjoyable day

A brilliant way to find local independent food places, we live in Chester but had never been to the places Steph took us to. And they were all fantastic, offering delicious food, cold drinks and great atmosphere. The tour itself was brilliant, informative, fun and Steph had so much knowledge of the local area, knew each place we visited well and had great relationships with all the staff who served and spoke to us. A good mix of history and food of the city, but keeping it light and interesting. We even learned new facts about Chester (which is difficult when you’ve lived here your whole life!) I would definitely recommend to everyone, locals and tourists alike. As a person who travels a lot, it’s sometimes difficult to know where to eat out in a city you’ve never been to, as you don’t know if you’re going to get a great experience or not, so this was a fun way to try a few places all at once and discover some hidden gems as well as learn about the city itself. I would definitely do a tour like this in other cities!

I originally took the tour with my husband in June 2025 and enjoyed it so much that I decided to buy a voucher for my friend's birthday. I took the tour again with her and another friend in April 2026 and we all had a fabulous time, learning a lot about Chester's history and enjoying some delicious food along the way. Thank you, Steph for being a fantastic tour guide.

Such a fantastic food tour in Chester! From start to finish, everything was really well organised and thoughtfully planned. Steph was a brilliant host very friendly, engaging, and clearly passionate about both the food and the city. It was such a great way to explore Chester, discover new places, and try a variety of delicious food along the way. The pace was perfect, never rushed, and it felt like a really enjoyable and relaxed experience throughout. I came away having learned a lot and with a few new favourite spots! I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chester or even locals looking for something different it’s a great way to spend the day.

What could be better than to spend an afternoon than on Chester on a plate food tour with Steph. You take a gentle stroll around the city learning the city’s history, while stopping at 5 independent venues sampling some lovely food and drinks. Steph is great fun, friendly and very knowledgeable. We were a group of 6 people, it was like having an afternoon out with friends. Would highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed. Will be back again for a different tour.

We had a fabulous evening with Steph. Even though we have all lived in Chester for many years, we tried some new places and learnt many new things. The food was all delicious, we would recommend all the restaurants we visited and will be back. Definitely wear loose clothes as you won’t be hungry. Steph was a great guide, fun and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend. 😄

We did Chester on a Plate food tour yesterday, we have previously done a food tour in Manchester with Steph a couple of years ago so we had high expectations after such a good tour in Manchester. The tour yesterday did not disappoint, Steph was so passionate about the food and all of the different stops were so well selected we couldn't have asked for a better selection of eateries. We have visited Chester many times but never knew some of these places existed so the tour has really done what it's supposed to. We learnt so many things about Chester that we didn't know before. If you are a foodie then this tour is for you!

This was my 2nd tour with Steph and it didn't disappoint. This time it was a cheese and wine tour. The venues she took us to were all thought out well, and the cheese and wine selections were great quality and varied. Steph is passionate about what she does, super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend! 🔥
