Wat Rong Khun

4.00Every ooerator is doing the same tour so we kept on meeting several people from other operators during the day. Sunny the tour guide was funny, kind and knowledgable. I would go for the tour only option. When you are 70 or older the admission at the White Temple is complimentary but we were charged nevertheless to "support" a privately run temple. Anyway you can see nearly everything from outside without being forced to purchase a ticket. Punctuality was unknown to some army dude along with his Thai girl since enjoying some coffee and being 30 minutes late did not bother them at all. They kept doing this all the time thus the 8 hour tour turned into a 10 yourish one, not that we saw that much but rather waited all the time. The blue temple was free of charge and quite interesting but again a lengthy stop and the tour began to get annoying. The black house looked like a mixture of Norwegian wooden church structures and some weird paintings, not really a must see. The Karen village was an opem air zoo but everybody wants to see those longnecks being pushed by several documentations around the world. All the guests were ready to go on the minibus as the army Thai couple decided to have a nice cup of coffee again. This way utterly titring. Lunch was pretty average, rice the best optoion to go, no sweet sour dishes but only basic ones being quite bland. The golden triangle was a must see and the Opium house offered some 3D scenes from the Opium times. It does not matter what operator you book with all of them are at the same spot at the same time even at the non listed Chinese tea plantation, a sort of please purchase some tea stop. I rated it 4 star since it was lenghty, unnecessarily prolounged and had guests with no kind of sense for punctuality being rude in respect of other guests who had to wait for them over and over again. There was also no chance to purchase any food. The 7 Eleven opposite of the Opium shack only offered Chips and instant soups.

He was so passionate about the tour and gave us so much information, and also organised fun activities to do at every place we went to!!
