Our tour guide John was absolutely amazing - we did the wine tasting tour. John was very knowledgeable and engaging - very warm welcome and kept the children evolved. Definitely recommend for a family day out!

Very interesting and informative tour led by Bob. Extensive explanation of the vineyard work from January through to October by our guide, followed by explanations of the winemaking and distilling processes. Wine tasting inside with reasonable sized samples of their white, rose and red wines- I was not familiar with any of the grapes grown at La Mare. Great gift shop at the end - perfect for buying family gifts if you are heading home in a few days.

I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with guide Helen. Very knowledgeable and interesting. The vineyard, its buildings and distillery are all first rate. However my serving of crab salad for lunch was dismal. An eggcup-full size of crab meat on a bed of spinach leaves with slithers of apple. Considering it was harvest time in a location surrounded by apple orchards it was meanness beyond belief.

We visited as a family and a great time. The grandkids really enjoyed the fairy trail and the prize at the end. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. A real asset for the island.

What a brilliant afternoon at La Matte Wine & Vineyard! Helen was an absolute fountain of wine wisdom — turns out there is a difference between “notes of oak” and “tastes like it’s been stored in a shed.” 🍷 We even met Roger the resident cockerel, who clearly thinks he owns the place (and to be fair, he might). The Sunday sharing board was next-level delicious — so good, in fact, we stopped “sharing” pretty early on. Let’s just say we rolled out feeling very content… and slightly piggy. 🐷

Helen, our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. We actually arrived too early for our tour, but Helen accommodated us by changing our tour to the earlier one. Tour lasted about 1 hour, enjoyed the tastings. The estate is beautiful to wander around, and shop is lovely. A must see to find Roger the Rooster!

The wines we tasted were all very disappointing. Only the cider was drinkable. Also it would have been more than helpful if there had been a sign in the shop to say that chutneys etc could not go thru customs baggage check in. Seems this is a very regular mistake that travellers make. I was not tempted to make another purchase in duty free!

A good, fun informative tour. Also lovely cafe for a spot of lunch afterwards and well stocked shop all with local products. Only gave a 4 instead of 5 as the wines weren’t our taste but that’s just personal preference.
