Rising at 2864m, Mount Triglav is the highest mountain in Slovenia. In the heart of the stunning Julian Alps, this mountain is without a doubt the most beloved peak in the country (it even appears on the national flag!).

I climb this mountain around 25 times per year and I'm always excited to share its secrets with visitors.

Although the climb is not technically difficult, it does have some steep and exposed sections at the end that require a good fitness level.

It is suitable for beginner mountaineers but it is also an interesting challenge for more experienced ones, especially if you choose to climb it during the winter months.

What To Expect

The Triglav ascent is a great experience for beginner mountaineers. We will take the easiest route to the summit: the Krma Valley route. DAY 1: The first day will involve 5-7 hours of climbing. At the end of the day, we will get to Triglavski dom (hut), where we will spend the night. DAY 2: On the second day, we’ll tackle the hardest part of the ascent, which is equipped with a via ferrata (path with wires and pitons). The views from the summit are extraordinary! Joining a group trip is a great option for solo travellers or those looking for a budget-friendly alternative to a private trip. I will provide the climbing equipment (helmet, harness, rope). Please bring with you mountaineering boots, warm clothing (fleece, etc.), waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, poles, backpack (30 L), water bottle and snacks. Join me and stand on Slovenia’s highest point while you take in the incredible beauty of Triglav National Park!

Mitja and Grok were incredible guides! We had an unforgettable time with the group, from the steep 1,500m ascent through magical forests and meadows to the warm welcome at the mountain hut, where every detail was taken care of. On summit day, even though I didn’t make it to the top, Mitja’s calm, patience, and constant support made all the difference. I felt safe, seen, and truly cared for throughout the entire experience. I will come back to Slovenia and seek out more and more adventures with Mitja's team in the future. Highly recommended!

We had an excellent guide in Mitja. We would recommend booking direct with the guides as viatour cancelled the trip at short notice due to being unable to take payment. The matter was resolved but did take some persistence on our part in contacting them. As for the guided climb itself, Mitja was fantastic. We were picked up from our accommodation near Bled early on day one (c.6:20) and started the hike to the mountain at about 7:00am. Throughout the hike and climb, Mitja had an incredible amount of knowledge on the route and was very personable with all of our group. Unfortunately, one member of our group suffered a knee injury on the way down the mountain. Mitja took excellent care of her and an additional guide came to take down the other 3 people in our group. The stay in the hut near the top of the mountain was good. Traditional Slovene cuisine at affordable rates.

This was a fantastic trip. Our guides Matej and Rok were knowledgeable, professional, and expert risk mitigators. I signed up for this trip very last minute and I was very pleased to so quickly be added to the group. Climbing Triglav was the experience of a lifetime.

We had a fantastic experience climbing Triglav via the Blato Meadow, the seven lakes valley and back. We got the best of both worlds, hiking on our own to the Dolic Hut and back from the Planika hut, meant we could enjoy the scenery and wildlife at our own pace. But meeting Marco our guide booked via explore-share.com and having his expertise, harnesses, helmets and advice for the via Ferrata, ascent and descent of Triglav, was fantastic. We definitely felt safe and in good hands, which removed any stress from the situation, leaving us free to enjoy it. 2018

This was by far one of the most enjoyable hikes I’ve ever done. It was physically challenging, and the views were priceless. I would highly recommend not only the hike, but also the Mitja Šorn guide team. Communication was easy leading up to the hike, and they were very responsive. It was honestly enjoyable having Tadej with us for the entirety of the hike

Our trip to the summit with guide Blaz was amazing! We had no experience but that did not matter at all. We had a great time, Blaz made us laugh and took us safely to the summit and back. Blaz was always in touch with the meteorologists and could tell what the weather was gonna do so he kept us out of thunder storms. One of the best things we have ever done. Thank you so much for this great experience!

We had Igor Kremser as our guide. He was very competent, knowledgeable and had a good mood. Both adults and our 2 teens would choose Igor again at any time as our guide. The trip up Triglav is tense, tough and the stay in the cabin is worth an experience. We are happy that we had bought the items that were on the list we were sent. Especially good boots, hiking routes, gloves and a good backpack are recommended. It says in the description that Igor is aspirant - do not mistake he is extremely professional and a cozy guy to spend a few days with. We greatly appreciated that he picked us up in Kranjska Gora in his car. We had considering whether a guide was necessary... it makes the experience much better and larger. Take a trip on Triglav with Igor - you will not regret it
