If you’re looking for a coffee tour that will deepen your knowledge and expose you to interact with local communities off-the-beaten-path, this is for you. The tours take place in the community of San Miguel Escobar in the outskirts of Antigua (20 or 30 minutes) where the coffee growers will lead you through their fields, explain the work behind cultivating coffee, walk you through each processing step from bean to brew, and finish the tour by joining you for a coffee in their home. Along the way, you’ll learn more than just the process behind coffee--you’ll have authentic and transparent conversations with small-scale producers to hear firsthand about their obstacles, triumphs, and goals as coffee growers and experience their persisting enthusiasm and dedication to the coffee industry.

Had a great experience learned a lot about organic fair trade coffee, Manuel gave us a tour of his farm answered all questions thoughtfully and welcomed us into his home where his wife showed us the traditional way to roast grind and brew coffee. Eric was a great translator and seemed equally curious and passionate about coffee and his work.

What a beautiful experience! Deal Gente is such an amazing organization. I’ve learned so much about coffee, I will appreciate how much work goes into every cup I drink. It was a pleasure to be welcomed into Andrés home. Thank you!

We had an amazing time with Cristina and Juan Carlos and our guide Eric was awesome. It was just the four of us so the experience was even more intimate. We learned so much and walked away with a new appreciation of Guatemalan food and REAL coffee. We swore we will never buy ground coffee again. Gracias amigos!

I was in Guatemala for a yoga retreat but I was the only person that wanted an immersive coffee experience! Everyone was wonderful from Del La Gente making sure that I found the appropriate pickup spot, Elisandro who is the coffee grower answering my thousands of questions, his amazing interpreter and also his wife who welcomed to me into their home. This was a highlight of my trip and I strongly recommend everyone have this experience. They also gave me a traditional Guatemalan cookie and now I'm making them at home!!

Book this tour !!! Was so amazing to learn about the coffee growing process with Juan Carlos. We toured the plantation, and then went back to Juan Carlos’s house to learn about the drying process and grind up coffee to try. We then drank coffee and had homemade biscuits! Such an incredible tour !

A last minute decision to book this tour. It was well worth the money, though it did feel quite “touristy.” But great people.

This was our favorite activity we did across Antigua and Lake Atitlán. While we didn't book a private tour, it ended up being just my partner and I led by Mariale (translator) and Angel (coffee grower) — it was incredibly intimate, authentic, and meaningful to get a glimpse of the town through Angel's eyes, learn about his neighbors, his farming technique, and his lifestyle. To be invited into his home to roast, grind, and steep the coffee alongside him, his, wife, and his child felt very meaningful and special. We ended up buying some of his coffee too — while we intended to give it to friends and family as gifts, we've been selfish and enjoying it for ourselves! We continue to recommend this tour to everyone we meet!

Pickup time was on time. Milton our driver was very nice and cordial. Our guide Gabi was excellent! She spoke so well, answered our questions, very patient and kind. Her demeanor is representative of pride in her work and pride in the company and country she represents. She is a wonderful ambassador to Guatemala and Dela Gente. Elisandro and his wife Hilda were incredible! So wonderful, hospitable, knowledgeable of the industry and obviously proud of the work they do and company they represent. It was so lovely to meet them and learnfrom them. They are a wealth of wisdom regarding the industry and Guatemalan culture. Our visit with them definitely made our entire trip so special.

Great experience to discover the coffee making process with a lovely guide and great translator for those who don't understand Spanish. I will always remember this when I drink my coffee.
