What To Expect
National Museum
We start our tour of Riyadh by visiting the primary custodian of the Saudi national heritage and culture, the National Museum. Today it is a place of learning and discovery that hosts a unique collection of artifacts and covers the whole history of the Arabian Peninsula up to the modern era.
After National Museum, we continue to the nearby Murrabba Palace that used to be the royal residence where King Abdulaziz hosted his court. The palace was named after its square 40 by 40 meters shape and is now one of the city’s major museums.

3.00Tour guide was just a driver. Hardly any info on the city. He was good at drop off & pick up. We hardly knew much about Riyadh at end of the day.
Moosa is a nice guide but the tour disappointing.

2.00Moosa was nice and friendly but bad luck all around as the fortress was closed -he didn’t know- the Souq hasn’t much to offer, the king tower inaccessible till 4 pm (tour ended already at lunch time) and to make up the lost time I invited Moosa to join me for lunch which he refused. Ending up me having lunch by myself with a guide sitting in his car outside. He wasn’t hungry but even joining for a drink he couldn’t, disappointing day and the tour operator just drives you to places not really participates. On top of that I paid for 2 as there’s no option paying for just one person.

5.00The guide is taking you to several sights of interest. They will not walk inside of the sights with me. So, they are more of a driver than a guide in the traditional sense. However, it’s a great way to get to see places of relevance in Riyadh. I enjoyed the tour and my conversations in the car.

4.00We were picked up at the hotel on time, which is not a given with the traffic. Visiting the market and the fortress is interesting, although there is not much going on in the market. The museum is made exciting, but the midday meal is a bit of a bust, bland rice and half a chicken, two sauces with it... You can do better than that. Last we visit the Skybridge and enjoy the great view.
