We were welcomed by Anouar in the street who then led us to meet his mother and sisterinlaw. We really enjoyed the down to earth way of explaining things. They explained to us how the best way to make tea the Marocan way. I had no clue that we always have made it the wrong way. We loved how they took us step by step through the proces of making bread and a delicious couscous meal with chicken. While the couscous was steaming and we had some extra time they even braught out some traditional wedding cloths that we got to try on. To sum it all up...i think that this was the most fun/authentic experience that we had in our stay in Marokko. Thanks for sharing your hospitality!

An atmospheric place in the heart of the medina in Rabat. I highly recommend this Moroccan cooking workshop. It was a real pleasure cooking and tasting the dishes. The workshops are led by a wonderful Moroccan family. Visit them!

We had a great family time cooking all together on the rooftop right in the Medina. We had a lot of fun using the ancestral cooking tools, learnt how to make a delicious peanut butter with orange honey, prepared a wonderful tagine, and we know all the secrets of the perfect mint tea. thanks to Anouar, his mum and Bader for translating.

The whole evening was fantastic. The space on their terrace rooftop was comfortable and the view was cool. The hosts not only taught us how to make authentic home-made food, they let us do the majority of the food preparation because we wanted to. It was great to try traditional Amazigh food preparation. The food we made together was excellent. The couscous that was prepared by the host to go with the dishes we created was the best I had in our 10 days in Morocco. They also showed us traditional dress and helped us to try it on and we learned about Amazigh history and culture through our conversations as we were preparing food and mint tea. By the end of the event I felt like we were family.

This was an incredible experience with a real family in the Medina of Rabat. This is not a fancy experience but it is the most authentic meal we had in Morocco. Not to mention the tastiest. This is the southern amazigh style which in our opinion has much better flavor profiles. We made a chicken tagine with fresh made bread and Peanutbutter from scratch. They taught us the right way to make and pour mint tea. This can be a hands on experience for you if you want. The family even brought out traditional clothing form their home region. The host Anwar is an amazing young man who made the whole experience incredible. Do not miss this opportunity if you are near Rabat and are looking for an authentic family cooking experience.

During my visit to Rabat, one of the most memorable experiences was a home-cooked meal in the heart of the old Medina — a truly warm family gathering that captured the essence of life in Morocco. The family welcomed us as if we were one of their own, with smiles, laughter, and with conversation that continued through our shared meal and cooking experience. The highlight of the meal was the Chicken Tagine , an incredible dish and the best I had on our three week trip to Morocco. It was savory and sweet and absolutely delicious. We shared stories, mint tea, home made bread and peanut butter and really learned about their daily lives and living on Morocco. It wasn’t just a meal — it was a wonderful experience! If you ever find yourself in Rabat, don’t miss the chance to experience a family home visit like this. It’s not just about the food (though the tagine alone is worth the journey); it’s about connection, culture, and the kind of genuine hospitality that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Anouar was a gracious host. He and his family have a very warm and welcoming home. The meal was outstanding (less of a cooking class and more of a demonstration- you get to do a couple of things but his mother and sister in law do much of the cooking). You get to see how proper Moroccan tea is made (2 different herbs). In addition to what is listed as part of the experience, they shared their own meal with us so that we could taste extra dishes as it was our first night in Morocco!

We reserved this experience for our first full day in Morocco. One week later, it is still the absolute best food we have eaten and mint tea we’ve sipped. But this experience was about so much more than amazing food and tea. Anouar and his family are so welcoming and shared their AMAZIGH culture with us using traditional cooking tools, methods and ingredients. And it didn’t end there. It was an honor for the women to be dressed by Anouar’s mother in her most special wedding clothes and exquisite accessories. We recommend this experience!
