Begzsuren will pick you up from your hotel and take you home for an authentic Mongolian cultural and culinary experience! Learn to cook and dine on buuz, traditional Mongolian steamed dumplings and homemade noodle soup in addition to other dishes.
Begzsuren and his wife, Mungunsoyombo learned how to cook from an early age, from their families. Mungunsoyombo learned how to make traditional food healthier from her experience in nutritional studies. They live with their three children in a traditional Ger house in the suburbs of Ulaanbaatar. A traditional Ger home is a simple, portable, round tent covered with felt and used as a dwelling place in Central Asia. Begzsuren, Mungunsoyombo and his children will welcome you with hot herbal tea made from nettles Begzsuren picked from a herb garden. Join Begzsuren at his home for this cooking and meal experience and get introduced to Mongolian life, culture and cuisine.

What To Expect
Meet your host Bee at your hotel in Ulaanbaatar and travel together by car, taxi, or public transport to his family’s traditional ger, located about 5 km from the city center. A ger is a round, felt covered tent traditionally used by nomadic families across Mongolia. Upon arrival, Bee and his wife Soy will welcome you with warm nettle tea foraged from a nearby mountain and introduce you to Mongolian daily life, customs, and food traditions. Join them for a private, hands on, cooking class where you will prepare classic Mongolian dishes using fresh, local ingredients and family recipes passed down through generations. You may learn to make handmade noodle soup and traditional steamed dumplings while gaining insight into Mongolian cuisine and nomadic culture. After cooking, sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare, which may include noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and sheep meat, shared in a warm family setting inside the ger. End the experience by learning shagai, a traditional Mongolian knuckle bone game and a family favorite. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to cook, eat, and connect with a local family just outside Ulaanbaatar.

5.00One of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Mongolia was Bee’s food tour. What made it so special was that it wasn’t just about tasting great food—we were welcomed into his home. Spending time in Bee’s house, sharing authentic homemade dishes, and hearing stories about Mongolian culture gave me a genuine connection to the country that I never could have gotten from a restaurant or typical tour. Bee and Soy were warm, welcoming, and so incredibly knowledgeable. The entire experience felt personal, relaxed, and authentic. If you want to experience real Mongolian hospitality and cuisine, I can’t recommend Bee’s tour highly enough.

5.00Bee and Soy were wonderful hosts! Bee is an excellent storyteller and teacher, and kept in constant communication to ensure the trip went smoothly. I was gifted an important object in Mongolian tradition, a personal bowl, and was also told other things about the philosophy of Mongolian food, the structure of the family, and what it is like to live in a ger. I was shown games with bones and was taught how they are important to the ger. What is most important, both to anyone who books this and to Bee and Soy, is that you will cook together. You will participate in the making of food, and enjoy it together. I do not think I would have experienced this in a regular tour or without their guidance. This was truly an unforgettable experience, and I am honored to have experienced their hospitality. -Victor

5.00Bee and Soy are amazing wonderful hosts. This is the best cooking class I’ve ever taken. It is a very special experience to cook in and learn about the ger (yurt) that they live in. For around 6 hours we learned about Mongolian foods and culture. The food was delicious and very plentiful. I would highly recommend this delightful experience.

5.00I don’t believe I can adequately articulate what a truly wonderful experience it was to be welcomed into Bee and Soy’s home. This is far more than a cooking class; rather it’s an immersive cultural experience from beginning to end. The warmth and generosity of how this remarkable couple shares their home and culture is unlike any cooking experience. I feel that I truly have friends in Mongolia now, and I hope to have the opportunity to one day visit again. Top tier!!!

5.00The BEST experienced in all of Mongolia!!!! This is no mere cooking class. It is an indoctrination to traditional Mongolian living. Sadly, this way of life is dying. If you want to understand millennia aged traditions including OUTSTANDING cuisine, (They will accommodate vegetarians but vegetarians - seriously, this is Mongolia!) music, philosophy, games, and incredible conversation; this couple see themselves as Mongolian ambassadors. They do not disappoint!!! Book early!!!
