This was a very long and pretty exhausting tour, but it was worth the effort. We saw a lot, even with Cotopaxi hiding behind the clouds. Our guide Andres shared a lot of insights about the indigenous people and their culture, traditions, alternative medicine and more. He also arranged our schedule very well, keeping an eye on the constant changing weather conditions. The trip brought us to the back country, which is beautiful and gives a view on life in Ecuador outside the big city. The ride itself is tough and people with motion sickness should prepare for steep, curvy and bumpy roads.

Doing both the Cotopaxi and the Quilotoa Volcanos in the same day was amazing! Great views, a bit of hike, stops to admire local artists work and a very, very nice tour guide made this tour amazing. Our tour guide, Ayrton was very nice, knowledgeable and shared with us a lot of history, information along with his love for Ecuador! We are so glad we booked this tour!

This excursion has a lot of driving time so it’s recommended to schedule it when you need a day of relaxation. Our guide, Pedro was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. We were lucky with weather and got to see the glaciers at Cotopaxi. The walk around the lake at the bottom was interesting. Pedro was mindful of the time and made sure we arrived at Quiotola before the cloud coverage. The drive between the two is long but the views are beautiful and interesting. Lunch was authentic and delicious. There were plenty of opportunities to use the bathroom.

We had an amazing day with an amazing guide! Our guide Ayrton was very knowledgeable, kind and patient. He stayed extra time for us to see the Cotopaxi volcano through the clouds and get the perfect picture together. The lake was also beautiful and we learned a lot about Andean culture. We even visited a local art gallery where we met a family who creates beautiful local art. A delicious lunch included too.

The planned activities are too ambitious and too far apart from each other. The proposed hikes were ill described and there wasn’t enough time to do the Quilotoa hike as we didn’t arrive until 1:30 and we still had to have lunch. Therefore, we didn’t get to the hike part until three o’clock. With a very long time in bus ahead to get back to hotel. The only very positive experience was both our guide, Ayrton and our driver, Guillermo were amazing. In addition, allowing a sick person to join the group has resulted in one of our party to become ill. I would suggest a refund option for those who condition compromises the health of others.

The guide was great -- knowledgeable and flexible. Unfortunately, I went at the end of the dry season, so I never did get to see Cotopaxi. That was not the fault of the tour, however! Ecuador is a wonderful place to visit, not only the Galapagos but also the Andes and the Amazon basin.
