This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Robert Miller, was very knowledgeable and wonderfully entertaining.

This is a very interesting art museum located in Somerset House, on the Strand, in central London. It houses the art collection of the Courtauld Institute of Art, a self-governing college of the University of London, specializing in the study of art history. I visited it privately, without taking a guided tour. What fascinated me the most was the exhibition of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, highlighting what I consider to be the three jewels of this gallery: "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear" by Van Gogh, a study of "Luncheon on the Grass" by Édouard Manet, and "A Bar at the Folies-Bergère," also by Édouard Manet. Finally, I must say that I was disappointed with the souvenir shop, as it not only has few products to sell, but the gallery's guidebook is also very impractical, being hardcover and too heavy for a traveler to carry.

11/10. Very engaging, thorough. Loved the Gallery and Richard clearly was very passionate and knowledgeable about the collections and the art. He did an excellent job teaching our 11 and 14 year olds - he didn’t talk down to them as other guides can do and wasn’t bothered that they joined. Can’t wait to join him at another museum to keep learning.
