Come with me to travel back to the time, when Cretan people used to make their own Traditional Homemade Cretan Soap, using only Extra Virgin Olive Oil!
Together we can create our own traditional soaps, using the recipe my grandmother taught me, as she also learned it from her mother. Using my knowledge as a biochemist, we can develop these formulations to produce a product, based on your needs!
The whole procedure is completely safe even for young children and no specific knowledge is required on the subject. On the contrary, you will find it particularly educative and interesting!
Come with me and I will prove to you that you can prepare the purest and healthiest cleaning product, with your own hands. We will use only Extra Virgin Cretan Olive Oil, produced by my family, and totally safe ingredients.
At the end you will take your soaps you will have made with your own hands, that will be ready the next day, as a souvenir to remember this unique experience as you take your shower!

What To Expect
More useful now than ever!! Let's create together our own handmade traditional Cretan soap that will protect us from the CORONA virus and many other pathogenic microorganisms, without using harmful chemicals! Come with me to travel back to the time when Cretan people used to make their own Traditional Homemade Cretan Soap, using only Extra Virgin Olive Oil! We will start from scratch, giving to our soaps the features we will choose together, such as perfume, colour or shape. The olive oil we will use is collected and prepared by me and my family without any use of insecticides and other chemical preparations! Naturally, in the end, you can take your soaps with the formulation where every step is recorded all the way, if you wish to make your own soap at your home.!

5.00The workshop was great, led by Grigorios, who made us feel so welcome! The workshop took place on the roof of a building, so it was a very pleasant setting. Grigorios led the whole workshop with a smile and patience. He was with us every step of the way, taking care to explain how the soap is made and to pass on this precious recipe! We were even treated to some excellent sweet breads and fruit! I'd like to thank him again for a great time, and I highly recommend the workshop 😊

5.00Fun and educational activity in Heraklion. Grigoris is super knowledgeable about chemistry and made the whole process a breeze (I tried it at home later, it was much harder without him). Grigoris started with a quick intro on the chemistry behind the process of saponifcation and a little speech on the history of soapmaking. Afterwards he taught us how to make the actual soap. While we waited for the soap to set he even brought out traditional Cretan tea and snacks. This was a great change of pace from our schedule of 2 museums a day.

5.00Highly recommend this experience for anyone staying in Heraklion, especially if you want a more intimate, personalized, and friendly face-to-face experience with a local! Grigorios is a fabulous host - he is very knowledgeable about his craft, explained the science behind the process, served us tea and homemade cookies, and walked us safely through the soap making process. Getting to walk away with a handmade souvenir felt very special. Plus, Grigorios’ rooftop location is wonderful and so welcoming! Above all, Grigorios’ kindness and his perspective on the importance of clean products made the experience for us. Definitely check this out!
