DAY OF THE DEAD IS A MYSTICAL AND UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE.

October 31st: Preparations for Day of the Dead in Zinacántán and San Juan Chamula.

Day 1: The Romerillo and Zinacántán Cemeteries (cemetery and town).

Day 2: The towns and cemeteries of Zinacántán and San Juan Chamula

ROMERILLO - According to the indigenous belief of the community, the souls of the deceased arrive on foot to visit their relatives every November 1st. A visit to the Romerillo cemetery, located on a mountain crowned with 22 enormous Tzotzil crosses, is a very genuine, yet somewhat rude experience.

Zinacántán - The cemetery will be decorated with an abundance of floral arrangements at an altitude of 2,700 meters, offering a beautiful view and a mystical atmosphere. Visit the church and a family of artisans to see the textiles made on a backstrap loom.

SAN JUAN CHAMULA: ancestral indigenous celebrations at the cemetery, visit the church.

An unforgettable da trip to one of the most important, if not the most important, public holiday in Mexico. It was particulartly exciting to br introduced zo the customs of the local population by Rudi. We visited two different cementries and churches, and even there we noticed differences. The individuality was impressive. The coffee, the pox and the luncj in a local art gallery were also excellent. Highly recommended!

The trip with Rudy was very nice: we were with him all day in Romerillo, Chamula and then in Zinacantan. We got to know such a different world than ours, it was impressive and crazy at the same time. He explained everything great in English and Spanish and we had enough time to look around on our own. We felt safe and in good hands at all times. Rudy is very friendly, helpful and funny and has sought the personal conversation to each of his guests. In the end, we almost ran out of time, but he didn't just leave something out because of it.

It was an excellent tour.🥰 Rudi and the van driver treated us very well. Rudi knew a lot about the history of the Day of the Dead in the Chamula and Zincanatan regions. We had lunch in a picturesque place. ...very good vibe. ♥️

What a great experience with Rudy in Copainala! I was able to discover this wonderful Magic Town with a very rich culture and history. The locals are very welcoming! Smile is still the universal language! Copainala is a very colorful village where it is nice to walk and taste local specialties. I want to return to Copainala to stay longer and discover the ancient celebrations 😊😍
