Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine is a hidden, mystical Shinto shrine located deep within the forests of Takamori in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Surrounded by ancient cedar trees, the shrine is nestled in a serene and otherworldly atmosphere. A long stone staircase, lined with moss-covered lanterns, leads visitors through the dense forest to the main shrine, creating an almost ethereal experience. Amanoiwato Shrine
Amanoiwato Shrine is a significant Shinto shrine located in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and is deeply connected to the ancient Japanese myth of her hiding in a cave, causing the world to be plunged into darkness. The shrine is divided into two parts: the main shrine and a hidden cave, believed to be the actual site where Amaterasu hid. The area is surrounded by lush greenery, with a serene atmosphere that draws both spiritual seekers and those interested in Japan's rich mythology. Visitors often participate in guided tours to catch a glimpse of the sacred cave, which is not accessible to the public on their own.

While this was beautiful and the guide was very good the overview didn't mention that there were many steps and steep slopes. This is not a suitable trip for anyone with mobility issues and had I known how difficult it was I wouldn't have booked it.

While the places shine in their beauty, the road to get there does not. The guide was fairly unhelpful and barely provided his name. Albus or Elvis I’m not sure. The driver was very aggressive. I also worry that the bus had not been maintained or had gone without an inspection of the struts and shocks. I was being jostled and whipped around to the point of nausea Options for lunch are limited if you stay where they tell you to. Go out into the little town they’re our restaurants in the market with much better options. The guide would immediately get off the bus and start moving. If you were in the back of the bus, the man would be a quarter of a mile down the road before you got off. He would then bark command at you to “come here” like you’re a dog. Very rude and unprofessional. If you don’t mind spending the majority of time in the vehicle, this trip may be worth it. And perhaps things would be different if I didn’t have the same guide and driver. Landscape, the gorge the waterfall are all very beautiful. However, using this agency should make you think twice about who you allow to hold your life in their hands.

This was a full day trip to the Miyazaki gorge with two additional stops at a beautiful, mystical shrine, and a cave along the way. The sites were breathtaking, and our guide Sun was wonderful.

Very organized and enjoyable. Our guide for the day, Emily, was so helpful and friendly. The amount of time spent at each stop was sufficient enough to enjoy and take photos without feeling rushed.

You don't go alone, sometimes there's not enough time to watch everything in peace. Had a lot of information. Very nice service.
