Chimborazo is the highest volcano and mountain in Ecuador, and the point furthest from the center of the Earth with an altitude of 6263.47 meters above sea level. Its last known eruption is believed to have occurred around A.D. 550.
We will make an stop in Balbanera’s Church to admire this incredible church, then we will have panoramic view of the Chimborazo Volcano, the car will arrive at the first refuge the we begin walking to the second refurge of this amazing volcano.

What To Expect
Guayaquil
Pick up at 4:00 AM, we begin the tour by picking up the pax at the hotel, then we will head towards the Chimborazo Wildlife Production Reserve in the province of Chimborazo,
Our first stop will be at the Balbanera church to admire the church which was built almost on the shores of the Colta lagoon, it has a square that serves for indigenous concentrations, as a background to the population of Villa Unión and the majestic Chimborazo, in the place there is a restaurant where each passenger can have breakfast (Optional Breakfast), after this break we will continue our way to the Chimborazo Volcano, the vehicle arrives at the Hermanos Carriel Refuge which is at 4,850 meters above sea level, then we will make the ascent walking towards the second Whymper refuge which is at 5,000 meters above sea level, the walk is not heavy but we will go at the pace of the passengers. We will have time for the respective photo. We will have a typical lunch at a traditional restaurant in the area and then return to Guayaquil. End of service and return to the hotel.

5.00Juan Carlos, our driver and Alexandra, our tour guide were fantastic. We were looking for a challenging hike & even though it was less than 2 miles, it was tough because it was above 16,000 feet. Alexandra made it look easy. The views are amazing & although it was a long time in the car, Juan Carlos was amazing & we saw so much of rural Ecuador. The lunch was at a small, local place & the food was great. Juan Carlos stopped at a fruit stand on the way home so we could grab some fresh bananas & mangoes.

5.00This tour was absolutely amazing! Chimborazo was kind enough to show its magic peak and alpacas were either bunching up or running around. We hiked from the first refuge (4800m) to the second one (5000m). It took us quite some time and it was challenging, but we really wanted to try ourselves. This tour is definitely worth the time and the money spent on it in my opinion.

5.00This tour was absolutely fantastic! Chimborazo was kind enough to us to show its magnificent snowy peak. The drive of 5 hours was through beautiful Ecuadorian mountains and scenic roads. The climb from 4800m to 5000m was a bit challenging, but we wanted the challenge so we went for it. And it was absolute worth it for us! The view at the second refuge is incredible!
