With a maximum of six people per group, you are guaranteed a nearly private experience! Throughout the history of art, the male nude and homosexuality have been catalysts in the development of art. This unique tour will bring you through the depiction on not only homosexuality but also of masculinity and nudity over a period of 9000 years from Mesopotamia to 19th century French paintings. Although the main theme of much of the paintings in the Louvre is religious, the painters behind them wove a saucy network of affairs and sex - often with each other. If you want to learn about the drama between Raphael, Leonardo, and Michelangelo and how this manifested in their art and portrayals of men, this is the tour for you!

I can't recommend Adam, Fat Cat Tours, and their Desire on Display tour highly enough. The Louvre is the world's largest museum and honestly can feel pretty overwhelming, but we didn't feel any of that. The meeting point was straightforward, our tickets were already booked, and we walked straight past the queue. Adam kept a comfortable pace the whole way through and really seemed to enjoy answering our questions, no matter how many we had. The tour covered a great range, from Greek and Roman sculptures all the way to Da Vinci, and his breakdown of the history behind the Winged Victory of Samothrace was one of those moments where you stop and think I might have just breezed past that. The headsets were clear and reliable too, which really mattered in some of the more packed galleries. If you're visiting the Louvre and actually want to learn the history of what you're looking at rather than just shuffle through, definitely book this tour. We can’t wait to plan our next trip to Paris and book another tour with Adam at Fat Cat Tours!

My partner and I had a phenomenal time on the private LGBTQ+ History of the Louvre tour with Adam. He is incredibly well-informed about the art, thanks to his advanced degrees and having worked at the Louvre on painting restoration. We had niche questions about the art and the building itself, and Adam had detailed answers for all of them! He made the tour engaging and humorous, he customized it perfectly to specific art preferences we had (like the Heartstopper courtyard!), and he taught us tips to get more from all our future museum visits (e.g. discerning Roman vs. Greek sculpture, how to identify certain artists’ styles over time). Plus, to top it all off, he was super fashionably dressed. We will enthusiastically recommend him to our friends and book with him again on our next visit!

This tour was our favorite experience of our Paris trip (the food was a close second, of course!). Our guide, Eduardo, was a wealth of knowledge and brought the history alive with his enthusiasm and descriptive presentation of art, politics, culture, and lifestyle from Pre-historic times all the way up to the present. We could not believe how quickly the two hours passed. This was not simply a tour of general facts but, rather, a trip through time, with Eduardo providing insights regarding the lives of the artists and the context in which their works were created. Eduardo is clearly very well-read and a scholar of history in general, and the history of gay issues as portrayed in works of art of all eras. I highly recommend this tour and suggest you ask for Eduardo. You will not be disappointed.

The Louvre, while housing the world’s largest and most prodigious collection of masterpieces and artistic history, has the potential to be incredibly overwhelming or sensationalized. William gave us a private tour of the LGBTQ+ and sexuality themed art of the museum and it was hands down the most engaging, informative, gracious and all-around enjoyable museum tour we have ever had (and we have been to many and experienced a wide variety of tour guides). He has a PhD in musicology (music history) and that expertise shone through so clearly. Art and music have been twins throughout history, so the depth of knowledge was truly beyond our wildest expectations and his delivery and just how effortlessly he dealt with the staff and crowds of the Louvre made for a picture perfect visit top to bottom. Run don’t walk to book him for your next trip! We will certainly be returning to him and Fat Cat for various tours in the future!

If there is a more compelling, enjoyable and expert lens to explore the Louvre, I cannot think of any better than that given us by Adam on behalf of Fat Cat Tours. My husband and I, with four friends, seized an evening in June to enjoy a private, unique visit to the Louvre's homoerotic masterworks, history and back stories. Adam truly disarmed us with an immense sophistication about all aspects of the Louvre's collection - and skillfully navigated so many exhibits we likely would have missed. His gifts for story-telling and questions piqued our interest with every single artifact and artwork we saw. Two and a half hours barely scratches the surface - and his energy never flagged a moment. It was the perfect solution for our enjoyment of the world's greatest art collection. We cannot recommend Fat Cat Tours, and especially Adam, enough.

This was a unique experience to learn about queer history in these eras that are erased in any other tour and literature. Will, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and willing to answer my many, many questions. I normally get bored on tours, but his enthusiasm and content knowledge kept me engaged and eager to know more. Will was friendly, open to discussing many topics, and flexible to tailor content to his audiences' needs and interest. Our tour was during the time the Louvre had unpredictable hours due to strikes, so I greatly appreciated Fat Cat's efforts to accommodate us as best as possible to be seen the same day as our tour was originally scheduled. I recommend clarifying which tour you choose or request the one you specifically want to do ahead of time. When I am back in France, I hope to do another queer tour with Fat Cat!

Will was a fantastic tour guide, fun, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. He adjusted what he showed us and how he presented it on the fly to fit our group. We learned a ton about queer history and spicy details about the artistic traditions of ancient Greece. There was a problem with our originally scheduled start time (not Fat Cat's fault), and they worked to make it right. We ended up in a better situation than we had planned.

Our tour guide William was very knowledgeable and theatrical, which kept us engaged and entertained. We moved at a fast pace, and 2.5hrs went quickly but also was my perspnal max for museum standing. We were grateful to learn queer history and meet the OG twink. It was not quite what we expected, as the description discussed the impressionist painters and our tour was predominantly marble statues related to Greek mythology. Overall, we had some laughs and were glad we took the tour.

William was an incredibly knowledgeable, witty and engaging guide who led us on a private trip through the Louvre, explaining an abundance of hidden queer subtext embedded in sculpture, paintings and even furniture! This tour is a fantastic option if you want a deeper understanding on how male desire has been delicately "coded" over the ages. Every piece we viewed was given a detailed historical and mythological context, often accompanied by humorous asides. Without William's explanations, there are many details I would have easily overlooked and many works I would have entirely missed. Highly recommended if you want a queer tour of the Louvre doesn't revolve around the classic tourist-bait pieces of the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, etc This is also a wonderful option if this is your second/third visit to the Louvre- I guarantee that you'll see some works in a totally new context. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would recommend it to anyone with a passing interest in discovering the hidden underground of historically significant queer art.
