Set out to explore Dhaka City like a local, journeying through the narrow, winding lanes of Old Dhaka by rickshaw and taking a rowboat ride along the Buriganga River to witness the dramatic ship-breaking yard. Once installed as the capital of Bengal by the Mughals in the 17th century, Dhaka was among the wealthiest and most prosperous cities in the region.
Your experienced guide will lead you through the vibrant, colorful, and lively streets of the city. Highlights of the tour include a walk through the chaotic Kawran Bazar, visits to the Dhaka Flower Market, Dhaka University, and the Dhakeshwari Hindu Temple. Kawranbazar Stop for 30 minutes explore chaotic Kawran Bazar-the largest market of Dhaka filled with bustling vegetable, fruits and fish shops with lots of action by an exciting walk. Shahbag Flower Market Stop for 20 minutes, stroll around Shahbag- the biggest flower market of Dhaka. Curzon Hall Stop for 20 minutes, Walk through the Curzon Hall, an architectural master piece of European-Mughal style erected in 1904. Lalbag Fort Stop for 30 minutes; visit the historical lalbagh fort, 17th centuries unfinished Mughal fort, construction began by prince Azam the son Emperor Augrangazeb. Star Mosque Stop for 20 minutes, visit the tara mosque built by Mughal landlord Mirza Gulam Pir in 1711. Armenian Church Stop for 20 minutes, visit the church built by Armenian settlers in 1781. Ship breaking Yard Stop for 30 minutes, Hundreds of workers in the yard breakdown old ships, repairing and building new ships. Pink Palace Stop for 30 minutes; visit Pink Palace, also known as Ahsan Manjil. Shankhari Bazar Stop for 30 minutes, Walk through this oldest street and photogenic part where you meet artisans whose ancestors came here 400 years ago.

Authentic Dhaka Experience with Azim

5.00I am an avid traveler who loves exploring local life, and this tour provided a great glimpse into the heart of Dhaka. I found most of what I saw absolutely fascinating, especially the vegetable and flower markets where people balance massive baskets on their heads—it was perfect for photography. Azim was a helpful guide throughout the trip. He arranged a private boat for me to see the shipyards; although the river had a bit of a smell, it was an incredibly interesting and authentic scene that you wouldn't see in Europe. At the end, at my request, he also took me to see a Hindu wedding ceremony and helped me with some souvenir shopping. A note on timing: The tour was advertised as a full day (8–8.5 hours), but we actually finished everything in 5.5 hours (from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM). While the content was interesting, the description is a bit misleading as it functions more as a half-day tour. Overall, despite being much shorter than expected, it was still a worthwhile experience to see the real side of the city.

5.00The guide explained the history and background well, and it was impressed that after the death of the former prime minister at the time of the tour, all the offices closed their doors and did not enjoy the tour properly, but nevertheless the guide tried to finish the tour as much as possible.

5.00Great tour with Rakib, who was very educated and knowledgeable about the history of Bangladesh and Dhaka, spoke very god English, and made me feel welcomed. This tour involved walking, riding rickshaw in between the sites, and a boat trip to the ship yard. Definitely makes you feel like a local :)

5.00Rakib was a great tour guide and had everything well under control, navigating and negotiating with the local drivers from each place we had visited. At no time did I feel unsafe walking through the streets or riding in the vehicles through the busy city (not too busy given it was a holiday). It really was an experience Dhaka through the eyes of a local. Very enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend!
Awesome day trip of Dhaka, highly recommend this trip.
