Overall it was a fabulous tour. We got lucky since another family that was booked with us did a last minute cancellation, so we had a private tour consisting of my wife, myself and our tour guide Michael; a native of Hong Kong very well versed in local history and quite fluid in English. This was a tour designed for the traveler that had already been to HK before but the highlights looked very interesting and they turned out to be just that. We began with the ferry ride from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island which began to give us our bearings in terms of geography. We rode through the financial district, experienced the Double Decker Ding Ding Tram; very well known by tourists and locals alike, did a Sam Pan Boat Tour in The Aberdeen Fishing Area of the harbor Spent time in the government housing area which has a rich history in terms of past and current economic development. This all followed by and authentic Chinese Lunch and a tour of the Wet Market showing local vendors in a genuine business setting which is uniquely their own. This tour in our opinion gave us a different perspective of this wonderful place. What we did realize was that we barely scratched the surface in terms of what else is offered in this truly international city called Hong Kong

How lucky? Only four of us on tour. The other couple only spoke Cantonese and we only English. Ming did a great of doing the tour in both languages. We did in fact see a different side of Hong Kong. From the Star Ferry to the Ding Ding Tram to a sampan ride and Taoist cleansing ceremony and then into a public housing area with market and then the highlight lunch in a local cafe with us the only Europeans and definitely eating authentic HK food. All this followed by a walking of the old quarter on Hong Kong Island. The cleansing ceremony was something we didn't know was part of the tour and are so grateful to have seen it. The other big plus with this tour was there were no extra hidden costs. We had previously done a half day tour with one of the larger companies only to find out that when we got there there was an extra charge of HKD 70 per person for a ride with one of the grumpiest ladies I have ever met. Ming was a great host always willing to give that little bit extra to make sure that we enjoyed the tour.

The guide was very informative and having a driver as well on tour was convenient. The only change I would have liked is perhaps more emphasis on The Peak district rather than the housing estate at Aberdeen. Sampan ride was good, something different.
