Dingle Peninsula
A tour of the beautifully rugged and scenic Dingle Peninsula, one of the most untouched and historically intact areas of Ireland. Preserved by its remoteness and rugged inhospitable landscape it contains many examples of ancient settlements amid rolling hills and rocky wave hewn coastlines. Along the way you will visit Inch beach, Annascaul, the birthplace of renowned Antartic explorer Tom Crean. Driving through patchwork quilt fields dotted white with lazily grazing sheep. Learn a few words of "Gaelic", widely spoken in this area. On Slea Head Drive view incredibly rugged coastlines, Beehive huts, Gallarus Oratory and Kilmakader Churchyard. Visit Brandon Creek, the place where St.Brendan is said to have set sail from on his voyage to the "New World" in 512AD. Lunch in lovely Dingle town and stroll its quaint streets to visit some of its many bespoke craft shops to find unique gifts for those at home before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon. A wonderfully enjoyable day out.

I was travelling with my adult children, a daughter and a son. This was my 3rd trip to Ireland. I have done the ring of Kerry twice and the Dingle Pennisula once before. I enjoy the scenic views of both but consider the uniqueness of Dingle and its historical artifacts the reason why I spluged for the private car and driver to visit the sights of Dingle Peninusla. Our driver Denis was accomodating. He adverizes that his trips begin in Kilarney but he agreed to pick us up at Dingle Port off out Cruise ship. Up front, he asked if we had any special requests. I wanted to see some ruined churches and cemetaries with celtic crosses. I wanted to see the beehives and the old drystone walls and huts and Denis took us to see them and providedus about the structures we were seeing. In the afternoon we had Irish mist and eventually rain. Denis saved some signts that were indoors including a visit to the Blasket Cultural Center, a place I had not previously been to. I hardily recommend this option of a tour for a family tour or small group. The car was comfortable and right sized for some of Dingle's intimately narrow roads. A delightful day on Dingle Peninsula Slea Head. Thank you Denis
