Disney has lost its spark and become and money hungry monster

Dear Disneyland Guest Relations, I am writing to formally express my extreme disappointment and frustration regarding the treatment my family—and most importantly, my autistic grandson—received during our visit to your parks on March 18. This day was meant to be a joyful and unforgettable milestone: my grandson’s very first visit to Disneyland. Our family invested a significant amount of money in park tickets and additionally purchased Lightning Lane passes specifically to help accommodate his autism, as he has significant difficulty waiting in long lines. What we did not anticipate were the extreme weather conditions, with temperatures reaching into the 90s. This made an already challenging situation even more difficult for my grandson, who was struggling to regulate in the heat and crowds. While waiting in line, a cast member observed our situation and kindly informed us that Disneyland offers services for guests with disabilities—something we were never made aware of prior to that moment. Hoping for support, we proceeded to Guest Services at California Adventure after finishing at Disneyland Park. Unfortunately, what followed was one of the most upsetting and degrading experiences I have ever encountered at any theme park. We were assisted by a cast member named Aubrey (from New Mexico), whose approach was shockingly lacking in compassion and professionalism. Instead of being treated with understanding, we were subjected to repeated, deeply personal, and intrusive questioning about my grandson’s condition. I clearly explained that we had official documentation from Social Security verifying his autism diagnosis, yet this was dismissed, and the questioning continued. We were asked to explain how we “handle” him, details about his schooling, and other personal matters that felt entirely inappropriate and unnecessary. The tone and manner in which these questions were asked made us feel judged rather than supported. Most concerning of all was the impact on my grandson. He became visibly uncomfortable, withdrawn, and ashamed—emotions no child should ever experience, especially in a place that is supposed to be welcoming, inclusive, and magical. As his grandmother, it was heartbreaking to watch him feel singled out and embarrassed simply for being who he is. This interaction completely overshadowed what should have been a beautiful memory for our family. I was so upset that I wanted to leave the park entirely. However, my grandson was in tears because he had been looking forward to riding the Cars attraction. At that point, my sister-in-law had to step in and advocate on our behalf because I was too distressed to continue the interaction. The only accommodation ultimately offered to us was a one-time pass for the Cars ride—despite the two-hour wait and everything we had just experienced. This felt dismissive and wholly inadequate given the circumstances. I cannot emphasize enough how unacceptable this experience was. We have visited other theme parks such as Legoland and SeaWorld, where individuals with disabilities are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion—without being subjected to what feels like an interrogation process. Disneyland promotes itself as a place for all families, yet our experience reflected the opposite. No family should have to justify a child’s disability in such a personal and humiliating manner just to receive basic accommodations. Considering the significant financial investment required to visit your parks, this experience was not only disappointing—it was deeply upsetting and, frankly, inexcusable. I am requesting that this incident be formally reviewed, that appropriate action be taken regarding the conduct we experienced, and that additional training be provided to cast members on how to respectfully and compassionately assist guests with disabilities and their families. I would also appreciate a response outlining how Disneyland intends to address this matter, as well as consideration of appropriate compensation for the distress and negative impact this had on our family’s experience. Sincerely, Victoria Garcia

The Happiest Place on Earth! We spent 3 days at Disneyland & California Adventure celebrating my 35th Birthday. I haven't been in 9 years and my boyfriend hadn't been since he was about 10 years old. We had a great time, we visited during the week in early February and there were minimal ride closures for maintenance as well as lines moving quickly. I have always been a fan of Disneyland - growing up in Southern California, I spent many years celebrating my Birthday at the park. We were able to join in Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration as well as California Adventures Lunar New Year Celebration. The staff and crew members were so friendly and always happy to assist. We stopped by Town Hall upon our arrival to get my "Birthday" badge as well has my boyfriend's Celebratory badge. Disney staff is always amazing at ensuring you feel celebrated on your birthday. The longest line we waited in was for Space Mountain and the wait was only about 40 minutes. I truly felt like a little kid again enjoying the rides and the magic of the park. I absolutely love the corn dogs they sell on Main ST. at the Corn Dog Cart, we also enjoyed many pineapple spears, and other street food on our trip. With additions over the years, and changes - the original Disneyland atmosphere and magic still exists and the new additions and upgrades bring more magic to the park. We will be back in the future, but this visit was one for the books!

The Disney Experience was wonderful I did not know how much we would enjoy it as adults we were in town to see another attraction and got tickets to Disney. We had a blast we rode everything had a great time my best advice book reservations for restaurants before you go looking at the map of Disney decide which way you're going to start and which side of the parks and try to get your restaurant going in from there from one side to the other so you don't waste time download the app use it to gauge the rides and when they're the best times to ride. The app will really save you time and you can even book your things in advance from it. We had gone for 2 years in a row and really enjoyed the shows and the fireworks

Voucher worked perfectly and was easily redeemed online for tickets which were added to online account. Saved some money too.

My family and I have been coming to Disneyland for over 30 years now and I have never been treated so shabbily. Went to guest services with two issues and the gist from them was "We've got your money and won't lift a finger to make things right with you. Go up a creek." Separately, I had a Disney employee laugh in my face when I told them my budget hotel choice. Oh, I get it - I'm "poor." Very funny. On a different note, It's a small world world literally had cobwebs, dust, dirt, debris, and mechanics' greasy hand prints on the ride. I guess if Disneyland can't even respect their own park anymore they certainly can't respect the guest. I have never felt so disrespected here. I flew in from out of state, spending thousands of dollars and Disney is nickel and diming me for an inferior experience and to be insulted to my face. This is the last time I am going to Disneyland. My dollars will be spent at Universal from now on. I will be suggesting that my friends, relatives and acquaintances do the same.

Disneyland is always an adventure. And always pricey. But time with children (even the ones out of the house!) is good.

Well, let's see.... Half the good rides were shut down half the time, so the lines were insane on a "light" day. So you go to another ride and wait in line for 45 minutes and right when you're about to enter, that shuts down. Stand in line for 30 minutes to order drinks and some food. Now stand in line to pick up drinks. Now go across the way to stand in line to pickup food. So you realize the only way you're getting on the rides is to buy an additional "lightning pass". You fall into the sunk cost fallacy and buy it. But after you buy it, you learn its very limited value as you have to schedule the rides 2 hours in advance. You go to buy an ice cream but they tell you that you have to order online. "Here, I'm trying to give you my money, but you're making it difficult". Plan on riding maybe three exciting rides and spending 90% of your time waiting in line. Disney feels like a CULT and at $600 for the day (2 people), I just don't see the value.

Best family day out ever! The atmosphere was amazing — most people were dressed in Disney themes, everyone was happy, and the staff were brilliant. Coming from Australia, you’ll definitely want to upgrade to the Lightning Pass to get the park done in one day. The professional photos included with the pass were perfect and made it even more memorable.
