Disneyland was okay, but overall it did not live up to expectations. Compared to Disney World, this is a much smaller park, yet the price is very similar. You can walk around the park quite quickly, and it felt small for what you are paying. The rides were fine but nothing that really stood out. There were no shows during our visit, and the parade only featured a small number of characters, which was disappointing for a Disney park. Food was also very expensive, even by Disney standards. Paying $21 for an ice cream sundae felt excessive and added to the feeling that the park is overpriced for what it offers. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but for the cost and the limited size and entertainment, it did not feel worth it and is why I have given it two stars.

Disneyland feels more stressful than fun now. Booking rides, dining, and Lightning Lanes keeps you tied to the tedious process, and staff often seem short-tempered or disengaged. Paid upgrades and constant rule changes make the experience feel like a money grab. For me, the magic has faded.

Disneyland is and will always be my favorite place on earth to be and enjoy with my family. We all had an amazing time and enjoyed all the rides and food. We visit every year as a tradition to our Christmas gift to the family.

The Magic has left the building. That’s it. That’s all. I’m not sure if Walt had this in mind when he created Disneyland and if he’d be disappointed. The Lightening Pass is an absolute joke. We were only able to get on 3 rides due to over booking, crowd and rides not available on Lightening Pass. If you don’t want to wait in line for rides, they made it so the $37 Lightening Pass is useless. You either have to pay $29 per ride of $449 for the premiere pass. Let me get this straight, $300 plus to get into the park, $40-$60 to park, and if I don’t want to wait for any ride, or the 90-120 minute wait time, I can get the premier Lightening Pass for a whopping $437 per person!!??! Let’s do the math. $300+$40+$437. So almost $800 to have a somewhat enjoyable day at Disney? Food has gone down hill. River Terrace, was well seasoned but chicken was fatty and ended up eating about 10% of the chicken. Soda was even flat. Pretzel I had to send back. Dried and hard as a rock. All restaurants completely booked. Oh and the food. Right. Let’s add another $200-$300 on top of that. We are talking about $1200 for one person. One person people! Let that sink in. Does that sound magical or like a financial nightmare. Born and raised in Southern California and being 50 years old who’s been coming to Disneyland since the 70’s, it’s honestly really sad that Disneyland is the top 1% people talk about. It’s just a money grab and they don’t care about the people. Just show much they can get your for.

Wear a mask if you are in the shops. Germs were rampant. I got a horrible flu being so close on top of people in the shops and other public places where there are lots of people. It was very cold in the evenings for me. Cold is relative. Anything in the 50's is cold for me. You could feel it by 5pm. I had on 3 layers, and I felt like I needed another layer. Due to that I did not stay for the fireworks. The Christmas Parade was very well done. The entrance fee was ridiculous. $420 for 1 person hopper. Does not include meals or anything else. The staff is superb. I had a problem with entrance days for 1 person in our party of 6. Went to guest serviced in Disney and they fixed the problem immediately and because we were new, gave us 1st time at Disneyland pins, and bonus, lightning pass to the DCA Radiator Springs Racers. While the ride was good, I'm not sure it would have been worth standing in line for 150 minutes to ride it. Just when we are the entrance to the ride, it broke down. So there was an add'l wait time. We had no ideal if the ride was ever going to restart. But we and other who were closer to the front did not leave. We were rewarded by what seems to be a swift ride restart. The ride that everyone thoroughly enjoyed was Rise of the Resistance. This was a so a well done immersion ride. Since I can't do simulator rides I was concerned I could not do this ride, but the simulation part was so short that you did not notice the simulation part, because you were not in what I call a soup can. At the end of the ride, everyone had smiles on their faces, This was one of the few rides where I actually wanted to immediately get back in line and do it again. The food in the park could be better, but its basic fast snack food. If you have an issue with what you got, just take it back to the distribution desk and they will give you a replacement. I did not think anyone could mess up pizza, but at the alien pizza spot, they did just that. There was really only 1 decent breakfast spot in DCA.

Disneyland is too crowded and too expensive for the value offered. They have enough money to make the experience worth more. The lightening lane pass is a joke. Everything in the park is overpriced. Shameful.

It is my opinion that Disney parks, including Disneyland, are no longer what they were in the 1980s and 1990s. The overall quality of the experience has declined as maintenance and labor have been reduced, while prices have risen faster than the consumer price index. Disney appears focused on cutting operating costs rather than preserving the standards that once defined the parks. For example, Disney’s ongoing failure to properly maintain the Indiana Jones attraction reflects a broader trend in which popular but high‑maintenance rides are neglected or replaced with simpler experiences that require less upkeep. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is, in this view, a particularly poor replacement for the former Splash Mountain, with frequent malfunctions and show elements that do not meet the standard set by the original attraction. Special effects on several of Disneyland’s best rides have also been removed or scaled back, further diminishing the sense of immersion. Decades ago, Disney’s primary goal seemed to be to entertain and impress guests, and both customers and employees were treated with exceptional courtesy and care. Guests typically left feeling valued, reassured, and satisfied. Today, the company appears more focused on maximizing revenue by introducing increasingly complex up‑charge systems and schemes, while offering less value in return. This shift is visible throughout the parks: fewer flowers and detailed show scenes, fewer animatronics in new attractions, and a noticeable decline in day‑to‑day maintenance. Guests are now expected to spend a significant portion of their visit planning every detail on their phones, rather than enjoying a spontaneous, carefree day. What was once a magical, welcoming experience has become a highly procedural ordeal that tends to favor affluent visitors, leaving the Disney brand feeling diminished and damaged.

You cannot fault the park itself, the characters, the rides, the experience are all amazing. A fabulous day out. The cost is high though, but it is what it is. What surprised me most though, was that they are getting thousands of visitors a day yet seem to have no clue at all at organizing. Lines for the car park, the car open space green lights are faulty, lines for security , lines for the tram, mega lines to get in. They need to do much much better in this respect. So they get a 5 for the park and 1 for organization - that’s my 3 stars.

Disneyland is always an incredible experience; nostalgia, entertainment and fun! This time we only did one day and packed it full with all the popular rides. Was pleasantly surprised how much we could fit in!

I’ll start by saying we have always loved Disney, we come every year from New Zealand and have a great time but this year was different. Entering the parks you straight away are scrambling to book lightening lane attractions, availability goes quickly and by lunchtime the bookings are for late in the evening. The biggest disappointment was ride reliability, 2 rides broke down with us on them, 2 more broke down during our reservation window, 3 major rides were down at once and we couldn’t use our cancellations for them, in 7 years we haven’t managed to go on 1 ride as it breaks down every time, that’s not a temporary issue, that’s a permanent defect that’s not been fixed. There seemed to be more downtime than availability. The rides are getting tired and unable to be mechanically safe for a full day. Most worryingly was being evacuated from the haunted house, 25 minutes to get us, if there had been a fire we would all be dead, crew openly talking about not knowing what to do, 1 person on an ego trip just shouting ‘I’m in charge’ but not appearing to do much to take charge. I’m all for safety but you wonder whether the park is safe in the first place when rides can’t go an hour without breaking.
