• Two Amazing days diving in Cano Island

  Alexa and Yock are a family female run diving and snorkelling centre in Drake bay. Cano island is a class 1 biological reserve with highly limited diving and access. Alexa and Yock are professional and very conscientious with the nature and Alexa is a very patient instructor who took some of us through PADI refresher dives. Our last dive was very special at El Diablo which is a cleaning station in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We got there early and enjoyed watching 6 mantas travelling through for a clean. They also offer some nice touches like reef friendly suncream. Delicious snacks on the Cano Island beach. Beer on the way back to Drake and delicious lunch in Drake best restaurant called Claudio’s. We highly recommend Yamaya and can’t wait to go back diving with them.

  Such a great experience- the whole time was packed with fun. The boat and diving crew were very professional and I felt safe. We saw fish, sharks, turtles, sting rays, whales… delicious meal at the end.

  I would highly recommend Yemanyá Expeditions for both scuba diving and snorkeling. My husband went snorkeling while I was diving, and we were able to share the same boat in a small, intimate group of just six other guests, accompanied by our two guides, Alexa and York. They were incredibly kind and professional, with a strong commitment to protecting the local marine life, which we really appreciated. I felt completely safe throughout my dives thanks to Alexa, who is an outstanding instructor, attentive, patient, and truly passionate. She helped us discover an amazing variety of marine life, including manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, seahorses, and many other beautiful species. We absolutely loved this experience. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica, and we would encourage anyone visiting the area to book with them.

  I really enjoyed diving with Yemanya. They keep small groups for both snorkeling and diving. This day I was the only one diving but there were snorkelers with us. Alexa was a very nice instructor we took the time to appreciate the marine life. We saw so many things of which the highlight was definitely the manta rays swinging around us! I was struggling with something on my previous dive and Alexa took the time to practice this with me making me feel more comfortable. The whole experience was amazing and I would highly recommend going snorkeling or better, scuba diving here.

  I had the absolute privilege of doing several dives around Isla del Caño this January with Alexa, and the experience was simply outstanding. From the very beginning, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and genuine passion for the ocean. The dive sites were breathtaking — crystal clear visibility, healthy reefs full of life, and an incredible variety of marine species. We saw schools of fish, reef sharks, rays, octopus, turtles and so much vibrant coral. Every dive felt unique and carefully planned to give us the best possible conditions and encounters. Alexa made the entire experience even better. She is extremely knowledgeable, calm, and attentive, which made me feel safe and confident at all times. Her briefing was always clear and detailed, and you can really tell how much she respects and cares for the marine environment. She also has an amazing eye for spotting marine life that most people would miss. The equipment was in excellent condition, logistics were smooth, and the overall organization was flawless. Whether you are an experienced diver or newer to diving, I cannot recommend diving here with Alexa enough. Isla del Caño is truly a special place, and thanks to this experience, it became one of the most memorable diving trips I’ve ever had.

• Birthday dive

  We (4 of us) went diving at Caño Island at the end of November. The boat had us and 10 snorkelers. Our dive master was Federico, who was fantastic. Two of us had not dived in a while and he went over basic communication signals and safety procedures. The water was a bit murky due to the rains and run off, but we still had a great experience. We saw white tip reef sharks and turtles, including one being cleaned, plus schools of fish. Federico took photos and videos that he later sent to us. It was my birthday (and for one of the snorkelers) and Yemanya arranged for a delicious birthday cake at lunch. Communication with Alexa when we arranged the dive was great. The only issue was that the shop did not have a great selection of dive boots (falling apart and lack of correct sizes). They need to invest in new boots, but I still recommend supporting this woman owned busIness.

  Excellent service. Material good and suitable. Divemaster Federico outstanding. Dive spot at Isla de Cano easy to dive, some current, lots of animals. Unfortunately, we had poor visibility in November.

• Diving in Cona island

  Thanks for the nice trip with Alexa and Yock. I enjoyed diving in the quiet and warm water in august 2025. Also learnt about Cano island. We saw many turtles, white tip sharks and schools of different fishes including barracudas.

  We took two dive tours of 50 minutes each. Since the last dive was two years ago, safety measures were discussed first. Alexa was very sensitive. Highly recommended dive tour. We have seen five turtles, RI, morays and rays as well as many other colorful fish

  It is one of the best dives I have ever done, a lot of marine life, appreciate a primary forest on the island of 400 years and a lot of energy. See schools of fish, turtles etc.
