Djémila Known under its antique name Cuicul, is an establishment of an ancient Roman colony founded during the reign of Nerva (96 - 98 A.D.). The Roman town occupied a singular defensive position. Cuicul is one of the flowers of Roman architecture in North Africa. Remarkably adapted to the constraints of the mountainous site, on a rocky spur which spreads at an altitude of 900 m, between the wadi Guergour and the wadi Betame, two mountain torrents, the town has its own Senate and Forum. Around the beginning of the 3rd century, it expanded beyond its ramparts with the creation of the Septimius Severus Temple, the Arch of Caracalla, the market and the civil basilica. The site has also been marked by Christianity in the form of several cult buildings: a cathedral, a church and its baptistry are considered among the biggest of the Paleochristian period. The site of Djémila comprises an impressive collection of mosaic pavings, illustrating mythological tales and scenes of daily life.

Excellent tour to breathtaking Djemila - amazing Roman city in the mountains. Wonderful mosaics in the museum, beautiful amphitheatre. Very knowledgeable guide in Abdou. Such an amazing day! Highly recommended

Djemila is definitely worth visiting, but don't try and do it on your own. They will only accept pre-agreed tours - nobody knows why, but it's enforced. I got lucky and managed to get myself invited onto a tour, but that was probably unusual.

Always lovely to walk and explore Roman ruins. The local guide and driver who Wassim connected us with picked us up from the airport and took great care of us as we explored the area and got great photos to remember the experience.

Our guide for this tour, Bilal, picked us up at the Constantine airport in the morning and we drove straight to Djemila for this tour. Bilal was very friendly and helpful all day long. He's very knowledgeable about the site and could answer almost all of our questions. After the tour, Bilal and the driver took us back to our hotel in Constantine, helped us get checked in, provided money exchange, and provided good local recommendations. Recommend!

A full day visit to Djemila which was simply amazing. Our local guide Bilal was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. It was so great to visit Roman Ruins without the hordes of tourists you have in Europe. The museum here has some incredible mosaics. One of our favourite places in Algeria for sure, the green hills surrounding Djemila create such a nice setting. Everything else was great. Comfortable car, professional driver and morning/afternoon stop for coffee. Highly recommend and special thank you to our local guide Bilal.

I'm not much of a wreck lover, but even I'm impressed with Jmila. It is very nice to wander the thousands of years old streets of the city, located in the most picturesque place - in a hollow between the hills. The colonnade along the wheeled road leading to the gates, the beautifully preserved structures of obscure purpose, the fountain, thousands of years of arched vaults, the beautiful work of stone, the sewage system and even the public toilets all arouse the imagination and make you think that what we are creating now will be reduced to dust in a couple of centuries. Maybe our ancestors weren't as primitive as history tells us. An incredible experience of the museum, which carefully preserves the mosaic floors. It is now the mosaic walls ))) In order to preserve the beauty, the mosaic from the floor was removed and transferred to the walls of the museum. Getting to Djmila (as well as Algeria) is, unfortunately, not easy. We have to go through the formalities. And this, what AlgeriaTours 16 will do beautifully for you. Wassim is simple. He answers all questions quickly, always gives correct information. If you listen to his advice, your journey will be easy and full of experiences. If to Algeria, with Algeria Tours 16 ))
