Nestled in the World Heritage Site is the Freshwater Lake, A twenty-five minute drive from Roseau will get you there. It is the largest of Dominica’s lakes and is located in the village of Laudat over 2,500 ft above sea level. The Fresh Water lake is one of the main sources of Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls and the Roseau River. It sits at the center of an old volcano at the foot of Morne Macaque. A trail surrounds the lake and allows for some spectacular views from all angles, overlooking Grand Fond and Rosalie. The lake offers a unique mountain ecosystem and stunning natural beauty. The lake is surrounded by montane forest, a forest that grows on mountains at high elevations, characterized by short trees and an open canopy. Visitors can expect a cooler climate, with temperatures often described as chilly, especially at night. The loop trail around Freshwater Lake takes roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete and offers an easy to moderate walking experience. This trail is optional.
Titou Gorge
Titou Gorge is a small waterfall deep in a water-filled gorge burrowed in the heart of Dominica. Located within the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Titou Gorge is a remarkable natural wonder that is not to be missed. It invites visitors to dive into its refreshing waters and explore its enchanting caverns. It can be a cold swim, but there's also hot water close by, making it a refreshing stop. The only way to see the waterfall at the end, is to swim upriver through the gorge to reach it but don't be worried life jackets will be provided to ensure a comfortable experience. The swim is short, only about five minutes, and the canopied light filtering down the mountainside within the gorge is spectacular.

This was one of the best excursions I have ever been on! We were met outside the cruise terminal by Channon. She had been in contact with me prior to the day of the excursion, answering any questions I had. My group loaded into the van with Channon, Yanik (another guide) and our driver Andy. We drove throgh the hilly, winding roads on our way to our first stop at Freshwater Lake. From there we went to Ti Tou Gorge. This was an amazing experience! We swam in a gorge of cold water to get to a hidden waterfall. You are required to wear a life jacket as the water is deep and chilly, along with the there being a current to swim against as you get closer to the falls. I have never experienced anything like this. Channon guided us through the gorge. She did not rush us. She happily took our pictures as we stood near the falls. After the gorge, we headed to Trafalgar Falls. Yanik was our guide for this part. Yanik lead us up the falls, making sure we were safe as we climbed up the rocks, though the water. Partway up, we enjoyed some warm mineral springs. For those looking for a little more adventure, Yanik lead us further up the waterfall where there was a cool, deep water pool. There, we had time to jump into the pool and swim. Yanik then safely led us back down the falls. Next stop was at a hot spring nature bath. We were able to just sit and relax in the hot water and take in the nature around us. This was an amazing tour lead by some phenomenal people. They were very kind, allowed us plenty of time at each of our stops and happily told us about their country. This tour was more than I anticipated. I highly recommend to take this tour if you are looking to see and experience some amazing sites in Dominica. Channon, Yanik and Andy are the best!

What a great adventure! We got to see three amazing places and a few others on this adventurous tour! Channon was wonderful on our swim/float through Titou, she kept us together and took plenty of pictures. Yannik took us up Trafalgar falls, finally wrapping the day up with a soak in the hot springs. Andy our driver got us everywhere safely. Definitely a great experience. One warning this is a very physical tour, you don’t have to be an athlete to do it, but it has some demanding parts.
