  It was an amazing day. We learned so much, witnessed incredible views, drank great port, ate great food, and enjoyed our time with Alfredo. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with a better guide.

  As other reviews have mentioned, Alfredo's tour is truly special. Alfredo has a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Douro Valley (and how it fits into the wider history of Portugal), the wines of the region, and winemaking in general. The stops on his tour did a great job of showing the variety of business ventures in the Douro Valley, from small, family-owned operations to larger-scale ones, all of which make great wines and pay homage to the history of the region. My wife and I greatly enjoyed his tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto--regardless of your aptitude for wine. Thanks again Alfredo!

  We were traveling with another couple, and our day began with Alfredo picking us up at our hotel. His van was immaculate and he was an excellent driver. We traveled to Douro Valley in absolute comfort, and Alfredo provided commentary on history, geography, wine making, grape varieties, and answered all of our questions. The wineries he had chosen for us were a perfect mix. The first was a small, family owned vineyard. Luis was a great host and provided a fabulous tour and tasting. The next stop was a larger family owned vineyard with a totally different feel, just as wonderful and delicious. We had a beautiful lunch, then headed to the river for a boat ride down the Douro. It was absolutely breathtaking. The last stop was a beautiful winery with absolutely fabulous views. The ride back to the hotel was a bit quieter because we were all exhausted, but Alfredo was attentive and delivered us to our hotel safely. This day trip was definitely the highlight of our trip. • Perfect day in the Douro Valley

  We had a perfect day exploring the Douro Valley with Alfredo. We were in Porto for 6 days, but decided to take a day trip into the Valley. He picked us up right from our hotel at 8:30am and we arrived back just before 8pm. The drive out was very pleasant and we talked a lot about port, Porto, Portugal, wine, etc. It was lovely! Our first stop was at a smaller, family-run vineyard where we got a tour and tasting with the wonderful owner, Luis. He was so knowledgable and friendly. The wine and port were fantastic and we especially loved the cheese pairings. The second stop was to a larger, more popular vineyard where we saw some larger groups. However, Alfredo arranged for a small, beautiful spot for us in a garden area to enjoy our tasting. He also toured us to the grape stomping area and taught us more about the process. Our lunch was at this vineyard and was spectacular! And of course more wine and port! After lunch we went on a one hour boat ride along the River, which was beautiful. You can imagine what a full week river cruise would be like with such beauty. Our final stop was at a vineyard with the best view. We sat out in the garden overlooking the Duoro River and vineyards; it was a gorgeous stop to end our day. Overall, this was a fantastic tour and worth every penny. Alfredo is kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, professional, and a pleasure to spend the day with. He mentioned he does other areas of Portugal and that all tours are customizable.   Our private Douro Valley Immersive Wine Tour was one of the highlights of our Portugal trip for sure! Our experience was arranged with Alfredo Santos of Tourvent; our driver and guide for the day was Luis Morgado. Luis was professional, fun, and extremely knowledgeable about Portugal, the Douro Valley and wine! We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the tree very different from one another vineyards. Each vineyard provided two table wines and two ports for tasting and an expert to guide us through the tastings. The three course lunch (with three wines) was delicious and was served in a beautiful setting. We were able to meet Alfredo as he was doing a private tour with another group the same day. Both Alfredo and Luis are passionate about what they do and this added to our wonderful experience. We would definitely recommend this tour with Tourvent to family and friends whenever they are planning a trip to Porto!

  This tour is a must and especially with Alfredo! The Douro Valley is simply breathtaking - a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and world-class wines. The vineyards lining the river look like a painting, and every turn along the winding roads reveals another spectacular view. The wineries we visited in this each had their own charm, from small, family-run estates to larger historical producers. The tastings were generous and well-explained, giving us a real appreciation of how the valley's unique climate and soil shape both the table wines and the famous Port. I especially enjoyed learning about the traditional winemaking methods that are still honored today. Our guide, Alfredo, was amazing — friendly, knowledgable, and made the whole Douro Valley wine tour so enjoyable. He made the day even more special with deep knowledge of the region's culture and history. Lunch in the valley was a highlight - the dishes paired beautifully with regional wines. Thanks to him, the day felt relaxed, personal, and unforgettable. Highly recommend this tour. This tour is not only about wine; it's about immersing yourself in the Douro's landscape and way of life. It's relaxing, memorable, and an absolute must-do for anyone visiting Portugal. Obrigado, Obrigado, Obrigado!!

  The Douro Valley private wine tour/tastings and lunch was absolutely outstanding. Alfredo Santos made us feel incredibly welcome and took us to all of the very best places. His knowledge is immense and his contacts with the local wine farming communities are nothing short of awesome. The lunch itself was opulent and delicious, the wines and ports were fabulous. Alfredo is an outstanding tour guide and a wonderful human being.

  This was an amazing experience that made our trip in Porto! Alfredo was fun, knowledgeable, and brought us to many fantastic places. We had a great time and would highly recommend if you want to visit Douro Valley- it doesn’t get better than this!
