Hi everyone, I’m Jonny.
I recently started my own small tour company because I love sharing the Douro Valley in a relaxed and authentic way.
My idea is simple: focus on quality, not quantity. We work with small local producers and family-run wineries, and we take the day at a comfortable pace — just as a day in the Douro should feel when you're on holiday.
During the tour we visit a family winery for a wine tasting, enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch at another local winery, and take a relaxing boat ride on the Douro River with beautiful views over the vineyards.
Along the way we stop at some of the best viewpoints for photos and there is always time to simply enjoy the landscape.
Tours may be conducted in English, German, or both depending on the group — think of it as a small group road trip through the Douro Valley.

5.00We had a wonderful time with Jonny in the Douro Valley. When he talks about having a “homemade-style Portuguese” lunch and visiting an “authentic, family-owned” wine estate, he is vastly understating the experience. While we also visited a major, historic estate, the lunch and tasting at the smaller wine estate felt like visiting family. We ate in the owners’ home, and to top it off, their 22 year-old tawny port was outstanding. It all felt warm, welcoming, and intimate. Thank you!

5.00Wish I could give more than 5 stars for we had a fantastic experience! Jonny put together an extraordinary day that delighted us at each stop. He is a knowledgeable guide - but what made it so special is his clear love of sharing his country with visitors. We felt we didn't have a tour guide - but rather were with a friend who wanted to make the day special for us. We were so lucky to spend the day with him for he was hands down the best tour guide we've had.

5.00The tour with Jonny was an all-round successful and unforgettable day. Initially we were a bit skeptical about having to start at 08:00 in the morning during our holidays – but it was absolutely worth it! Jonny gave us exciting insights into Portugal and especially the beautiful Douro Valley with a lot of charm and knowledge. The ride in the van was very pleasant, and thanks to Jonny's humor and entertainment talent, time flew by. A special highlight was the fantastic winery with the port wine tasting – we would have loved to stay there right away! However, we would have missed the delicious lunch in an equally idyllic place. Plus the boat tour on the river- it was wonderful. The tour took place in a small group of only 8 people, which created a very personal and relaxed atmosphere. We had a lot of fun and were able to get to know the country and people in a very special way.

5.00We had a really nice time that day. Communication with Local Experiences Portugal was easy and straightforward. And very reliable. We had a great focus on a German tour, which was also very well met. Even if it is not possible in all cases, because the individual parts of the tour do not always speak German of the owners, owners or other parts of the company. Nevertheless, we were all able to communicate very well and everyone is very eager to help. The tour with all the components was great. We had a wine demonstration at its finest. The boat tour was good and sufficient. The stopover at the viewpoint was great (as you can see from the pictures). The food was just awesome. The subsequent walk was good and informative, with beautiful motifs. And the pick-up and drop-off service was fun, entertaining and entertaining. You just have to come to the Douro valley :-). 5.00The trip was amazing.Johhny was a great host and tailored the tour to the group.Everything was bespoke from the wines and the food which were all excellent. The added touch of sparkling and local soft cheese and crackers was really special.All this in a comfortable van with great views and music.

5.00We spent a great day in the Douro valley and surroundings. Jonny had a lot of interesting information (in German and English) for us. However, the sound quality of the Bluetooth speaker has some room for improvement. The tasting of the port wines at Croft was fine. The highlight was then an almost family-friendly, typical Portuguese meal at a wine and olive farmer's. Overall a great adventure ride. Danke Jonny. Barbara & Werner
