Transylvania is Romania’s most popular travel destination, and its charming and mysterious castles are a big part of the almost mythical fascination it spreads. From well-known monuments like Bran Castle to smaller castles that once belonged to the local aristocracy, the hundreds of castles of Transylvania tell a story of their own rise and decay, often directly connected to the troubled history of Romania.

Peles Castle
When King Carol I of Romania visited the small village of Sinaia in the foothills of the Bucegi mountains in the 1860s, he was captivated by its scenic location and commissioned the construction of a palace there. The resulting castle is easily one of the most stunning in all of Europe. The first couple to live there, King Carol I and his wife Queen Elizabeth of Romania were known to be very different in temperament and interests. The king was an accomplished soldier who greatly expanded and improved the Romanian military, and the queen was more artistic, with a great fondness for music, art, and literature, and even published poetry under the pen name Carmen Sylva. Peleș, too, was a reflection of these two different personalities. Important !! Peles Castle is closed on Mondays the visit is without inside tour
Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)
The fame of the castle taken abroad is due largely to Bram Stoker, author of the famous novel “Dracula” – the story of the vampire-count that never ceases to fascinate. The connection between the character in the novel and Prince Vlad the Impaler – Dracula is even suggested by the author who wrote somewhere in the book “… was it really that prince Dracula who opposed the Turks over the great river, even from the border with Turkey.“ Although the history disproves that Vlad Tepes, ruler with vampire traits ever lived in Bran Castle, the blood – hungry count’s story is so popular and widespread that it almost no one is interested in the truth. Dracula’s legend is one thing, the story of Vlad Tepes is something different, but this “confusion” put the small town and the castle on the map of international tourism and brings important financial benefits to the area.

We took a private tour on New Years Eve this year 2025 to Transylvania, Dracula's Castle, Peles Castle & the medieval town of Brasov, it was the best experience ever. Our tour guide was Radu. Such a great guy and so knowledged with the history of Romania, everywhere we drove through he explained to us different history of these places. He picked us up from our hotel at 7am, his vehicle was very comfortable and he provided water for us.. we had plenty of time at all our stops to take in history and view everywhere. He took us on a surprise stop which my teenager was very excited about. The filmset of the series WEDNESDAY, which we didn't even realise was filmed there. This was great. Our last stop was Brasov Medieval town where Radu took us to a lovely restaurant for lunch and we had the nicest ghoulish stew, which was great to warm us up. We arrived back at our hotel around 6.30pm. It was a long day but absolutely worth it. I would highly really recommend a private tour with Radu. He even found us a lovely restaurant for a new years eve meal in Bucarest that evening because we was not sure if we would get a booking last minute at this restaurant. Thanks again Radu for a special day. We will never forget it

We had a tour of the beautiful castles and the local area of Brasov. Our guide, Radu, was very knowledgeable and kind. He worked very hard to make sure we were happy and that the day ran smoothly. Pele's Castle was definitely the highlight of the day. It was even more beautiful on the inside than the outside. Every part of the house had some form of art and history and was well worth the visit. An amazing experience that I would highly recommend! Thank you again!

Had an amazing day today with friends and family visiting Brasov, Pelés Castle and Bran Castle. Radu was an excellent tour guide who shared his knowledge of the areas we were passing through and his extensive knowledge of Pelés. Pelés was a particular favourite of mine. The inside of the castle is absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend this tour to all.

Had a good day, the Pele’s Castle was fantastic! Really extravagant building. Our tour guide Radu was very friendly and the vehicle was comfy. Also went to Dracula’s castle and walked through Brasov, really nice atmosphere there.

Radu picked us up on time at our hotel. At all times he was courteous and professional and answered all of our questions. He found a site to visit that wasn't on the set itinerary, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The day lasted much longer than expected due to unforeseen traffic issues, however we were never rushed through any of the sites.

We started badly, they told us 8.00 a.m. and at 9 a.m. they send us a message that was delayed at 9.30 a.m., already an hour and a half late, we had to stop to pour gasoline, they wanted to sell the excursion on the bus 20 euros worth the entrance x 35, when they get there they themselves have to buy the tickets that do not even carry them, another delay of 45 minutes, without warning, in Brand and Brasov, nothing barely time, we wanted to get on the phone, impossible, and already the icing, at the roundabouts the driver did not give way to the people inside, and x supposedly did not keep any kind of safety distance, if something happens inside the bus, they are not responsible, everything was rushed, without any explanation, an experience not recommended, it is better to do it with a company would be, we were bothered our last day in Romania, we had to go on our own to the hospital, and they were not responsible for anything

We spent a wonderful day with Radu on our Peles and Dracula castles tour. What a diverse difference between the two castles and so much history to learn. We had a delightful Romanian lunch in Brasov. Highly recommend this trip.
