Try to keep your jaw from dragging on the ground as we walk through the inner city hearing the dark yet true crime stories from the 19th century.
Dunedin, being a gold rush town, brought characters in from all over to exist together in this isolated city at the bottom of the world.
We will briefly touch on why and how Dunedin was settled for context then we will walk the main areas of the inner city seeing such landmarks as the favourite little Fairlie steam engine, the old victorian era, gothic revival prison, the Flemish Renaissance style railway station, Anglican Cathedral, the newly refurbished main street, George Street ending with the utterly depraved story of murder and attempted suicide in the one of many notorious lanes that still exist.
See the best of Dunedin while hearing the worst.

Wonderful tour, Lolene’s stories were dark and interesting. The tour was just the right length. Great value for money!

We had a fantastic time on this tour today with Lolene who was very passionate about the area and history of the area. We had also had a little mishap with the timings of our cruise ship and Lolene had messaged us to change the timing which was very much appreciated. The tour took us on a little tour of Dunedin, and when she found out we also enjoyed hearing about the history of the place she added a few titbits of that as well that was very much well received. My wife loved the well researched crime stories which brought the crime scenes to life (or death??!) Thanks Lolene - hopefully someone will read this review and choose to book with you as this tour is deserving of many more visitors!

I got into Dunedin in the afternoon and wanted to use the time I had and I'm SO glad I booked this tour. It was EXCELLENT. The weather was touch and go with rain, the tour leader was SO organised and incredibly interesting and informative. She really put her heart into it and it was beyond excellent. I naughtily suggested we retreat to a pub for a wine in the rain and we did. Perfect! Highly recommended. She could tell the stories from there! If you do one tour in Dunedin it is this!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Was blown away by the depth of knowledge and research that went into it, both solved and unsolved. Our guide didn't just rattle off dates, she told stories that made the city come alive. The pace was perfect and we were kept engaged right till the end. Would highly recommend the tour to both locals and visitors.
