Dushanbe is the largest scientific, cultural, political, economic, industrial, and administrative centre in the entire country! Dushanbe is home to the highest flag in the world, which has been included in the Guinness Book of Records! With a population of over a million, Dushanbe is a bustling metropolis.
Modern Dushanbe is a city where you can experience the vibrant energy of the East, and at the same time, it is the cultural, economic, and political centre of the country. The city boasts a monument to the founder of the Tajik state, Ismail Somoni, and a statue of the poet Rudaki, the founder of Tajik-Persian classical poetry. The city's Islamic architecture is exemplified by the mosque and madrasah of Haji Yakub.
Last year, over one million foreign visitors came to the country. While previously the main flow was from CIS countries, now most of the travelers are residents of far-flung abroad, including the USA and Europe.

Behruz (my tour guide) did a wonderful job showing me around Dushanbe. I’ve learned so much about the history of Tajikistan as well as the origins of the people. Behruz was a very professional and courteous guide that managed to plan out the itinerary that suits my needs. Highly recommend!

Great overview of the city. Don’t compromise with it with other tours which offer both the city and other places. You get to visit more Dushanbe destinations here.

The city of Dushanbe is one of the young Dushanbe is a city of lovers. Dushanbe is a city of love and affection. The city of Dushanbe is rich in history. When you enter Dushanbe, the fresh air and new buildings show that the city is developing every day.

Great tour! I saw so much of the city in one day than I would have if I had done it solo. Having a 2 hr private tour of the national museum was great as I felt I got to know a lot about this country. My guide, Hikmatullo, was early in picking me up and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour (and guide) to anyone.

Our guide, Hokim was amazing. This review is more geared towards him. Some of the sites were closed by the government but he was able to improvise. We were also looking for postcards which are apparently not popular in Tajikistan. He drove us to a bunch of places until we finally found one. Since we were leaving the next day he took them to the post office for us and got them stamped/mailed

Punctual pickup, decent car, young and friendly guide, and a good program to get to learn a bit about the capital and country. Started off with a walk around national monuments and parks. Visited the national museum that came to life thanks to a knowledgeable and enthusiastic museum guide. Visited some form of new presidential VIP center for high level meetings with lots of intricate wood carvings, marble, massive doors, huge round tables and heavy chandeliers - very picturesque kitch. The lunch at this center was a delicious plov, but I picked up a stomach bug either from the lemon tea or goat curd. We then visited a market/bazaar and more monuments plus a botanical garden that was very pleasant. The guide’s English and insights were somewhat limited but he was kind and friendly and took good care of me - overall I enjoyed this tour very much. It took around 6.5h in total.

Aziz was an excellent guide. We walked a lot which was excellent for seeing more of Dushanbe. We visited the “Meeting Palace,” National Museum, Independence Monument, Sonomi Monument, Persian Poet Monument, Botanical Gardens, the Flag, the traditional indoor market and saw other sites walking by. It was 91F and I drank 4 bottles of water. My favorite two were the top of the Independence Monument ($14 extra fee) and the Meeting Palace. We ate lunch at Taj which was traditional. I really learned a lot about “TJ” culture. Trip Advisor would not upload my selected photos from my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
