This leisurely exploration of Wanaka's scenic wonders offers stunning views along the gentle riverside track, showcasing the Upper Clutha's natural beauty. Join us for a pickup at 9 am, 11 am, or 2 pm from your accommodation. A 15-minute drive takes you to the wild and beautiful Lake Hawea, where you'll cruise along the Hawea River Track on an easy 30 km ride back to Wanaka town. A year-round delight, this classic Wanaka ride includes a strategic stop at Wanaka's best bakery for coffee and pastries. Once back in Wanaka town, just let us know, and we'll ensure you get a safe ride home. What To Expect
Lake Wanaka
Get to see the beautiful lake Hawea and river that connects it to lake Dunstan. The Hawea Whitewater Park is a real ride for those that brave the cold water. It's Free to use and has two different grades and a smaller wave at the top, which is fun to learn. The lower or bottom wave is bigger and this is where the pro's come to practice their kayak skills or surfing tricks. On any day you might see three or four people lined up to take their turn.

5.00Look what we did today: It was an amazing 21 miles! We explored Wānaka’s picturesque trails at our own pace with our self-guided Wānaka & Hāwea Trail E-bike Ride. First we got shuttled from our hotel in Wānaka to the charming lakeside town of Hāwea, where we embarked on this scenic ride. This riverside trail, set against a stunning mountainous backdrop, and beautiful lake surroundings had some challenging areas and a variety of terrain. Our E-Bikes were top of the line -plenty of pickup on the hills. I definitely got my fair share of a butt massage today! After I finished I said I could stay a week here and keep repeating the trails on E-Bikes. I really love New Zealand. Nov 19, 2025

Nice rolling gravel ride at own pace

5.00Mark did a great job picking us up, showing us the route, going through the obligatory safety checks, and making sure bikes were ship shape. Route was gravel and sometimes narrow giving us a little bit of a mountain bike experience. Plenty of views and stops but we still completed the route in 4 hrs. Route returns to Wanaka and all we had to do is tell Mark where the bikes were and he picked them up.

5.00Really a fantastic day. Drove out of town with Mark the owner who gave a tour of our way back trail. Start in the truck at 9:30 am and got to the top of the route at Lake Hawea about 10. Great pedal assist EBikes but a bit heavy for those not used to it. Quick safety brief and map review and ofd we went. One Word to Note: There are Many beautiful places to stop and fish or swim but the comoany is not allowed to recommend swimming for safety Wish we had brought suits and towels on this hot day. Left lakeside at 10:30 got back to town about 4:30. We went fast in some spots. but also stopped a few time to take in the scenery, put our toes in the water, ans stop at the pattiserie in AlvertTown for a drink and a snack. Really great day overall. Now as far as the biking, they are full on heavy EBikes that take some getring used to. The back break in on the RIGHT hand. There are many smaller hills tgat def used pedal assist. The path is mostly dirt and gravel. We're not regular bikers and it was fun. Take your time on the narrow and steeper down parts. Get used to using all 10 gears on the pedal assist early in the trek, youll need it. Also bring a backpack with good amount of drinks, sunscreen, energy bars, sunglasses, etc. Overall a 5/5 Experience.
