Eddie, while nice is NOT a good tour guide. We arrived 4, of us with an additional 4 people in kayaks and then 6 on a boat. The tour lacked any sort of communication, purpose or general safety. By safety, Eddie was in the boat giving a tour to the people in the boat and those in kayaks were basically left to their own devices, meaning, we were subject matter experts in bioluminescence. While it was cool to see the bioluminescence, Eddie didn’t even know where the other kayakers were, we lost our 2 kids for a bit in the dark water to another tour who was in the same area. This is by far, a sure miss, disappointing and pretty much awful. I don’t write many reviews but this was exemplary BAD! Everyone on the kayaks were asking, do you know what’s going on??? Nope we are boat 2, we are boat 4, could you call for us because we keep getting lost. For a family of 4 at over 200 bucks this was an utter waste of money. Eddie is really really bad at tours, like so bad it’s almost comical.

Great experience. We were a bit worried because it was a clear night, but Eddie did an amazing job explaining how the bioluminescent works, actively finding spots, and providing opportunities for us to see the different colors within the bay.

This is a bit of a hit or miss experience. Unfortunately for me, it was a miss. This activity is highly dependent on how bright the moon is, and on the day I went the moon was about 70% bright and the sky was clear. So we could see very little of the bioluminescence. I believe that given the conditions, the tour should have had been cancelled that day. Make sure you look how clear the sky will be and if the moon is close to being full, if both those conditions are true. Don’t book this experience.

Eddy is incredible and so knowledgeable. This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Intimate with no big crowds and Eddy is so passionate about the tour. Night swimming with the bioluminescence under the incredible stars was something I will never forget. You MUST do Eddy’s tour for this once in a lifetime experience. Cannot recommend this enough.

This was an excellent tour! Eddy is so lovely and knowledgeable, and really made the trip great. We were worried that there wouldn’t be any bioluminescence as it was nearly a full moon but actually we could still see loads and Eddy knew exactly where to go to get the best bits. He’s been doing this for 33 years so really knows his stuff - would highly recommend!

I recently went to see bioluminescence in Punta Cuchillos with Eddy as a guide. The experience was very good. Eddy knows what he's doing, he was clear with the indications and you rating he's experienced. Bioluminescence looks pretty good, it's something worth living at least once. We could swim and see how the water shone with the movement, which was very special. It is not something you see every day, so if you are close or interested, I recommend it. Very good activity, well organized.

We cannot write a better review than that stated below -- All we can say is that the experience was fantastic, his passion and insight and desire for Pura Vida was exceptional. He explained and demonstrated the best of Bioluminescenc. Actually through love and not maney its his life to share the experience. My children (11 and 16) have a lifetime memory of swimming with illuminating plankton-- it was magical. Serioulsy forget the commerciaslised Bioluminescence adventure go to Eddy ( not the easiest to fine) but the result is unbelievable . Be prepared for wet feet!! Reviews for Eddy's Bioluminescence in Punta Cuchillos, Costa Rica, are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the experience as amazing, unforgettable, and magical. It was a special experience with Eddy to experience the bioluminescence in the kayak. Thank you for the great evening. You could even swim in the water and had an incredible experience.

This was an amazing experience. If you think you might want to do it, don't hesitate. From what I can see, if you can make it down a short gravel slope, you should be able to participate. Eddie is a real pro, friendly, informative, safe. Even though we didn't have perfect conditions for the bioluminescence, it was beautiful and magical.
