Enjoy a complete visit of an authentic reindeer farm, meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and reindeer husbandry. As it is the first visit of the day, you will also get the chance to feed the reindeers with some of their favourite food directly from your hands. This is a great chance to approach the animals too, as reindeer are still very wild. After the feeding time, herders will take you in a kota, a traditional wooden house, to explain you more about their lifestyle around the fire. Cookies and hot drinks will also be served, as the herders answer all your questions.

What To Expect

You will go on a unique trip to the reindeer farm with electric fatbikes. This is the perfect experience to discover the nature of Lapland and local culture at the reindeer farm, in a very eco-friendly way. With the bikes you will be able to go on all types of paths ; equipped with an electic engine and large tires, those big mountain bikes can take you easily on a multitude of circuits. The tour is also adapted to all levels, including begginers or family with teenagers. Our guide will always adapt the ride and the pace to the physical level of the group ; the groups are also kept very small to allow for a more intimate and adapted experience. During the ride to the farm you will go through forest and lappish nature for approximately 45 minutes. After that you will arrive at the Reindeer Farm for a very local experience. After the visit of the farm, you will jump on your bikes again to ride back to Rovaniemi, using a different path. The total ride will be around 20 km, via easy forest trails and road cycling path. You should be back to Rovaniemi around 12:30, and keep your afternoon ready for more adventures!

Superb ride with sunrise in fat bike (electric assistance adjustable according to whether you want to do sports or not:). Then we fed the beautiful reindeer on the farm. The reindeer owners know each of the animals (with their first names) and their small habits. There was a time explanations and questions and answers then around a fire with Glögi 😋 Antoine, our guide, explained everything to us during the bike ride as once arrived at the farm. All my questions, whether about Finland or reindeer, have been answered 😊 It's nice to have guides who know so much! I found the idea of cycling back and forth from the farm super nice! This allows you to discover the Sami landscapes and to practice 😊 And visit the farm super interesting! To learn more about these typical animals of the region 🤗

Riding the electric fat bikes wasn't difficult at all, it was a perfect activity for the whole family. Despite the rain (it can happen), the atmosphere was fun and Chris, our guide, told us a lot of interesting stories about Finland, Lapland and the reindeers. The hosts in the farm were welcoming and we really liked taking a coffee and eating delicious home-made cinamon cookies while enjoying a warm birch fire, after a nice meeting with the reindeers! We highly recommand this activity to any English or French speaking group!

The bike trip to the farm was great. The surface of the road wasn't always smooth, but that was nothing the fatbikes couldn't handle. I had to stop during an incline once, because I hadn't lowered the gears enough, but after that I was just more careful about that, and all was well. We received a warm welcome at the reindeer farm, and feeding the reindeer was great. They were all over us, and not even remotely shy. At one point, I was feeding two at the same time. ^_^ The guide also told us a lot about the farm and reindeer farming in general, over coffee and berry juice. All in all, an enjoyable and informative trip that I would recommend to just about anyone. :D
