In Museum Helmond gaan oude helden hand in hand met nieuwe meesters. Wij nodigen je uit om kennis te maken met de verhalen van helden, meesters en families die dit kasteel bewoonden. De zalen ademen nog altijd de grandeur van weleer en brengen het verleden op indrukwekkende wijze tot leven. Ontdek het werk van Lucas Gassel, een schilder uit de 16e eeuw die geboren en getogen is in Helmond. Zijn landschappen, rijk aan symboliek en verfijning, brachten hem faam tot ver buiten de stadsgrenzen. Kasteel Helmond bestaat al bijna 700 jaar en is de grootste nog bestaande vierkante waterburcht van Nederland. Wandel door de historische vertrekken, dwaal door de kasteeltuinen en kom even tot rust in een omgeving vol historie en karakter. Iedere bezoeker wordt verrast door de oprechte gastvrijheid van onze vrijwilligers. Met trots, kleur en geur vertellen zij de verhalen van het kasteel en brengen zij de Nederlandse geschiedenis opnieuw tot leven.

5.00The Castle was a really lovely visit; the staff were helpful, informative, and accommodating to the lone non-Dutch speaker in the group (me!). Luckily, I had a group of translators in the form of my friend group with me; however, I cannot rate the talking guide device. I can confirm they have a Dutch guide phone and an English one. The castle has a fair few stairs, but I did spot a lift in my travels, and a chair lift upstairs, so the Castle is very accommodating to the disabled. Service dogs are also permitted! We brought two with us. Admission was cheap! The atmosphere was relaxed, and though there were other people in the Castle, it was spread out enough that we rarely came across others, so we could take our time to relax and look through the displays. The Café at the castle is lovely, and the pricing was also very acceptable! The Castle does have a garden and a moat circling it, with swans! and the courtyard has a few games for visitors to play. All in all, 10/10 visit, we are glad we made this our destination!
Recommended for families with children!

5.00What a fun outing this was! Grandpa, grandma, three couples of parents and five children between the ages of one and nine, we all had a great time in this castle, I mean this moated castle. Fun treasure hunt for the children with small presence afterwards. Very friendly and helpful staff. There were castle dwellers walking around explaining themselves. Many items may be touched and tried (dressing up!). Good coffee at the restaurant. In short: recommended.

5.00Highly recommended... Take the time to watch and listen to everything quietly. Restaurant has limited menu but the salmon sandwich was delicious. Friendly welcome by hostess/hostess.
