Lower Belvedere
The Belvedere in Vienna is one of the leading museums worldwide. Its famous art collection includes works ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. The unique, overall complex, with its two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, and their extensive gardens, is one of the most stunning Baroque architectural ensembles in the world. In the 18th century, the Austrian general Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to build a summer residence. After the death of Prince Eugene, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the entire complex and transformed the Upper Belvedere into an exhibition venue for the imperial collections – making it one of the first public museums in the world. The Lower Belvedere, formerly the residence of Prince Eugene, is nowadays home to illustrious exhibitions. Entry ticket only (no guided tour included). Visitors may proceed to the museums entrance directly and enjoy their visit individually.

Amazing exhibits! I learned so much about Klimt's painting technique and Slovenian painters. Absolutely loved it, and recommend people to visit the Upper Belvedere and this place with the combination ticket.

My entire visit to the Belvedere included going to the upper Belvedere, the lower Belvedere and the gardens. The upper Beveldere is fantastic. Beautiful construction and spectacular works. The lower one has a beautiful room and the collection has beautiful paintings. But if the time is limited I don't think it's an indispensable visit. The gardens cannot be commented. It was being replanted; there was no beauty caused by the coming of the year. But I believe that in spring/summer it should be beautiful.

Personally I didn't find it interesting. It seems like one of those places that would not be essential on a short visit to Vienna.

The first difficulty I had was trying to figure out where to go to find the museum entrance. I went to ask at the ticket office and they had sent me somewhere else, finally I arrive in the right place and I find a long line of people waiting to enter, all booked long before. Once you enter the odyssey began, people on the right people on the left, line for lockers. inside the museum there is no Guide where it says go first to this room and then to that but you are completely free to go wherever you want, so there are totally empty rooms and overflowing rooms with people coming from the right and left. in some places it also creates so much confusion I remember the exhaustion after turning the first floor of the museum. I felt really very tired and overwhelmed so I decided to sit and wait. I also sat on a bench inside the garden, which is really wonderful and that reassured me, I ended the visit.

Huge !!! The place offer beautiful landscape. Built in 1700 century the place offer amazing view. There are fountains , gardens , architecture or should i say complete package. They also have a app which help keep kids busy with a adventure animal searching game. Once it was a zoo and now they have hidden digital animals, Cafe is good but a little overpriced i would say. This is a must have in the itinerary

We took a tour of the Belvedere. This palace contains magnificent Collections including of course Klimt and many others. The exteriors are also very pretty. Easy access (on foot) from Karlsplatz.

Belvedere Palace is more impressive on the outside than on the inside. Its reconstruction is far removed from the origin. As for the collection, interesting and with very representative works of Austrian expressionism.

The rooms are very impressive. So is the story about it. You can experience everything through audio or take a guided tour. The place can be highly recommended.

Exterior in the jetties, poorly maintained and barren gardens, little information about the history of the belvedere. If you like art it is beautiful, if not you don't have to go in here!

This building was incredible and MUCH less crowded than the Upper Belvedere which houses The Kiss. I’m a horse person, so seeing the stables and how they’ve been turned into a museum was pretty interesting to me. If you ask, the person working there will point out the fountain they used to water the horses. It’s not easy to find. I love strange art, and there was a lot of it there because some of the displays are much older (Middle Ages and Renaissance.) There was also a wonderful exhibition of Broncia Koller-Pinell whose work is GORGEOUS. I really adored her paintings, and I’m so glad I made it to this exhibition! The building itself is over the top (of course) and the grounds there are beautiful and hidden. I almost had the place to myself. It was worth every penny to me, and having fewer people there allowed me to spend as much time with each piece as I liked. Don’t miss this if you like to really take in the artwork at your own pace!
