  Was a fun evening event. Kids already want to go back and do another one. Building sits behind flooring store but still easy to find. Worth the price and the fun.

  We recently completed the Creepy Cottage room at Confinement Escape Rooms in Taupo. Overall, it was an okay experience, but probably better suited to beginners than experienced escape room players. The room itself was decent and generally well put together, but not particularly scary or immersive. Unfortunately, you could clearly hear other groups playing in nearby rooms, which took away from the atmosphere. Some of the clues felt a bit unclear and there was some mixed messaging throughout the room. Having both a standard and advanced level running within the same space was confusing at times and made it harder to know what we should be focusing on. When we finished, we actually ended up walking out without the games master realising we had completed the room. She was friendly at the start, but it felt a bit anticlimactic at the end. We also didn’t get a team photo, which was disappointing as that’s usually part of the fun. Overall, it was enjoyable enough, and I’d say it’s a fine option for beginners or families. However, if you’re an experienced escape room player looking for something immersive and polished, this might not be the best choice.

  The escape room was great and the staff were friendly. However, I was a bit disappointed that my 15-year-old was charged the adult price, even though we brought their student ID. We were told the student price only applies to university students, which I feel is unfair.

  An activity the kids really enjoyed. Highly recommend. Will definitely go again when we visit. Staff was kind and gave a little extra time to finish the room.

  We visited Confinement Escape Rooms for our staff function, Deiryn had everything ready for us and the event went off without a hitch! Everyone had a blast and commented on how much they enjoyed it :-) . We will definitely be back, thanks Deiryn!

  We booked the Scavenger Hunt. Divided the family into 2 Teams and competed for a winner's bragging rights. great fun and became the topic of conversation for the rest of the night. Highly recommend for family entertainment

  Excellent set up, clear communication. Cabin in the Woods was a hard one; we did not escape. Was fun though. I’ve never seen an escape room that uses clues and spaces from previous rooms. Maybe it’s a New Zealand thing?

  Did two escape rooms (cabin in the woods and hunting lodge) for our xmas work do. Loved them!! So much fun!! Highly recommend Confinement rooms Taupo. The staff are super friendly and the rooms are really fun and get the brain working. Will definitely be back for more rooms!!

  2nd time for most of our group in the escape room experience, thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Bonus is we finished and got out of our room. Will definitely return to try another room😎
