What To Expect
Essential Flamenco
We want to recover the intimacy, which was the essence of authentic flamenco. The audience literally stuck to the stage, surrounded by three rows of chairs. No tables, no meals, no distractions. Pure flamenco. The flamenco jondo (jondo comes from deep, deep) combines, in a crucible never seen before, five musical cultures: the local Andalusian folklore, the music that brought the gypsies (that emigrated from India arrived to the south of Spain in the year 1400 ), Arabic music (the Arabs were from the year 700), and also musical features of the Jews and Castilians. It is a music that touches the universal soul.

5.00We read in the reviews what a good experience visiting this Flamingo show would be. We were not in any regard. The chamber in which performance took place, the talk beforehand, each musician, and dancer, and their ability to work together, surpassed our expectations. The performance was a highlight of our trip.

5.00Highly recommend this show very intimate, and the performers were excellent. The greeters when you entered the building, we’re very professional and attentive as well and the setting was perfect. The show also is the perfect amount of time.

5.00Absolutely fantastic. It began with a brief but informative history of flamenco and the gypsies in Spain, followed by masterful guitar, cello percussion and, of course the dancing. The price was right and the complimentary sangria was a nice touch. I give it my highest recommendation

5.00Fabulous performance! Just over an hour long. You gather in the bar - 1 drink included in admission, beer/ sangria/ water - and then go down into the cellar as a group, drink in hand. Cellar has aircon so very comfortable. Seating on either side of a small stage. Show starts with a short history lesson in Spanish & English. Music, traditional singing and an energetic performance by the dancers, one female and one male. She was amazing to watch - took pix with no flash and video limited to a minute, as recommended. Just the right amount of time before heading to dinner.

4.00This Flamenco Essential show surprised me in the best way. Held in a small basement, the atmosphere is incredibly personal—almost like being invited into someone’s home. The lack of amplification makes the music and footwork feel even more powerful as they bounce off the brick walls. It’s easy to imagine flamenco being born in a space just like this centuries ago. I’m giving it four stars and recommending it to anyone curious about traditional flamenco roots.
