What To Expect
Essential Flamenco
We want to recover the intimacy, which was the essence of authentic flamenco. The audience literally stuck to the stage, surrounded by three rows of chairs. No tables, no meals, no distractions. Pure flamenco. The flamenco jondo (jondo comes from deep, deep) combines, in a crucible never seen before, five musical cultures: the local Andalusian folklore, the music that brought the gypsies (that emigrated from India arrived to the south of Spain in the year 1400 ), Arabic music (the Arabs were from the year 700), and also musical features of the Jews and Castilians. It is a music that touches the universal soul.

5.00We experienced a flamenco show right in the heart of Madrid, and it was truly unforgettable. The setting alone made it special—the show took place in a stunning 180-year-old cave, which created such an intimate and authentic atmosphere. It felt like stepping back in time. The dancers were powerful and expressive, the live guitar and singing added so much depth, and you could really feel the passion in every moment. It’s an intimate experience—being so close to the stage makes it even more intense and engaging. Being so close to the stage made the experience even more intense and engaging. The cave setting amplified the sound and emotion, making everything feel more personal and immersive. The show lasted about an hour, which was perfect—it kept us completely captivated the entire time. A must-do experience in Madrid!

5.00The venue was very intimate. The musicians were fantastic! The dancers were powerful, artistic and intense. This was my one and only Flamenco experience and I loved it! It is very professional and organized. I’ve seen some complaints that the show was too short. As much as I could have watched it for hours because they are so good, I think it’s important to appreciate the athleticism and expenditure of energy that was evident in the sweat pouring off them! They do several performances per day too. When the young lady hiked up her dress to show her dancing legs, it’s pretty clear this young lady is solid muscle like that of an Olympic athlete. And there is also the art form of the dance, the music, the vibe of the underground venue. Just go! You won’t regret it!

5.00Absolutely loved this flamenco show! The fact that the music was performed a cappella made it feel even more raw, authentic, and powerful. You could really feel the passion and tradition in every performance. The footwork was incredible — the energy, precision, and intensity of the zapateo was honestly mesmerizing. Such a beautiful experience and a true taste of traditional flamenco. Highly recommend if you’re in Madrid

5.00My family of four enjoyed a lovely evening of beautiful Spanish music and dancing at Essential Flamenco. The dancers (one male and one female) were passionate about their craft and it showed. The music (drums and stringed instruments) was absolutely enchanting. It felt like an immersive experience in flamenco. We also loved the sangria--a huge glass with sweet wine and delicious fruit. We would absolutely return.
