Mount Etna
Along the trail that will take us up to 2000mt a.s.l., our guide will tell you about how the highest volcano in Europe was born, without leaving the aspects related to flora and fauna that characterize it. After admiring old and new lava flows we will proceed on foot to the inner part of old craters. The charming panorama and the picturesque scenery will give us the feeling of being on the moon. After a short break, the hike will continue with a visit, carrying helmet and torch, inside a lava cave to admire a unique spectacle. Walking through a luxuriant vegetation, we will finally admire the spectacular Valle del Bove.

Interesting tour. There were a few too many people on the tour (2 buses with 8 people per bus) so it was a bit hard to hear what the guide was saying especially in the lava cave but interesting none the less. Bring your own flashlight for the caves as the flashlights provided weren't great. Guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant.

I enjoyed this early morning trip to Etna. It was well-organised and well-paced. Guiseppe knows a lot about this mountain and shared information that was accessible yet interesting for non-specialists.

We booked our tour on May 5, 2026, through Tripadvisor, mainly due to the many positive reviews – and we can absolutely confirm this. Our tour guide Daphne understands her job excellently and was able to explain an incredible amount about Mount Etna to us. Her knowledge seems nearly inexhaustible, and she answered every question with great passion and detailed knowledge. This made the entire tour not only interesting but also very educational. We were picked up directly at our hotel near the fish market in Catania and brought back there after the tour, which made the organization very pleasant. During the tour, we visited a lava cave, among other things. The necessary equipment for this was provided to us on-site by our guide. For the tour, we definitely recommend sturdy footwear or hiking shoes, as the terrain can be uneven and slippery in places. Overall, the tour was excellently organized and definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Sicily. We would book this tour again at any time and can recommend it without reservation.

I had an AMAZING time! Luca--our guide--was extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional. We made several photo stops along the way with Luca sharing all kinds of interesting insights about volcanoes, history of Sicily, food and music. He was very patient and kind to a few of the members of the group who were somewhat claustrophobic to enter an old lava tube or were a bit frightened to walk around the edge of a large crater with high winds. Luca was extremely safe with those who managed to do both. I had an amazing experience and highly recommend you take this tour!

I visited Etna with my mother and I can say that it was a truly extraordinary experience. Carmelo was an exceptional guide: competent, passionate and able to transmit valuable information about this unique territory and the functioning of volcanoes, all made even more fascinating by the opportunity to observe it directly with your own eyes. The visit to the cave was an evocative experience, and the finale at Valle del Bove perfectly capped a memorable day. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to discover Etna in an authentic and in-depth way.

Our hotel was not approached as the road is very narrow. We got a location and a time and only had to walk a little bit to the location. We drove with two Bullos, the guide was in the other car and we were kept informed about walkie talkies. In the reviews we read that the break before the hike is too short for lunch, so we bought bread rolls in a bakery before. The last hike up Mount Etna was a bit strenuous, but that was also due to the strong wind on the day. We would recommend wearing long clothes as it was also quite cool in the cave. It was a very nice experience though and we would do it again anytime.

Our guide Daphne was very informative about Mt Etna and shared a lot of interesting information about both the volcano as well as about Sicily. We would definitely recommend this tour especially with Daphne. The lava cave visit was very thrilling and one of a kind.
