  We’re a group of 8 people from Taiwan who just finished the ABC trek and did some sightseeing in Pokhara and Kathmandu, guided by Rai Treks and Expedition. We were so fortunate to have Dev and his team as our support. This was my third time to trekking in Nepal and I couldn’t imagine there would be another trekking guide better than Dev! From our early planning stage Dev was already there to answer our endless queries swiftly every time. He planned our trek meticulously but still kept some flexibility to cater for our ability and condition whilst on trek. He always booked the best available accommodation for us. We couldn’t imagine there would be hot showers 80% of the nights and we were served pizzas, burgers, and even steak in the Himalayas. We also have tea breaks in the picturesque teahouses 2-3 times every day. These are all included in the package. Honestly we are not hardcore trekkers but just love bathing in the nature and enjoying the mountain views. From this perspective Dev had made our trekking superbly enjoyable. On the last two days of our trek the weather forecast didn’t look promising Dev even suggested and arranged us to visit a Gurung village Ghandruk to see the old Gurung houses instead of going to the Australian Camp which supposed to see the sunrise. Also, during the trek one of our members felt unwell and Dev could quickly adjusted so he could stay for a complete rest while others could continue. Our assistant guide Kamal even went down to help carry his backpack after taking the whole group to MBC first. Finally the whole group could still get to ABC as planned, we may not do this without an experienced guide. I would say if everything goes fine maybe you would consider to trek independently, however there are so many uncertainties on the mountain like the weather, the altitude, injuiries (even a minor one) and one’s physical conditions etc. When there is an experienced local guide available you can get help immediately and professionally, to ensure your safety on the mountain. If you are a tourist trekker like me who purely wants to taste the vibe of the Himalayas without hassle I would highly recommend Rai Treks. The owner Devendra Rai is very well experienced trekking guide for over 20 years. He is so attentive to details and kind hearted. He even arranged a porter to carry a birthday cake from 2000M Chhomrong up to the Annapurna base camp as that day was the birthday of one of our members! Other than Dev every one in his team including the assistant guide Kamal and the young porters are very nice and happy Nepalese. They can all speak English and work diligently to a professional level. All in all they together made our trip went like a breeze and amazingly enjoyable.

  I don’t even know where to start… This was the trip of a life time with THE best people I have ever met. Rai Treks can not do enough for you, I felt safe and always in good hands. devendra, Mauli, Pramod and Saroj are amazing and I am so glad I get to call them my life long friends now. I spent 3 weeks with them doing the Everest Base Camp trek and it will forever be a special experience for me. Thank you so much for the best time and thank you most of all for looking after me. I will miss you guys.

  Doing EBC has been on our bucket list for a very long time. I was initially introduced to Devendra Rai through a work friend who had also done the trek and had recommended Devendra too me. We're very grateful for the introduction. From start to finish the trek was amazing and very well organised throughout. We've felt very well looked after throughout our experience. Devendra was very communicative in his emails and had a full itinerary laid out before we landed so we knew exactly what we were doing and what to expect, with a full equipment list as well. Once we arrived we were met at the airport and introduced to his Nephew Kamal Kulung who was our guide for the trek. Both Kamal and Devendra were great company and very informative, they took us to our hotel in Kathmandu, they arranged a wonderful guided tour in Kathmandu and then organised our travels to Lukla and the start of the trek. A big thank you to Kamal (guide) and Pramod (porter) as without them we wouldn't have been able to do EBC. Kamal checked in on us regularly to ensure we didn't have any altitude symptoms and we felt safe throughout the trip. Having all accommodation, food, passes all sorted through Rai Treks meant my partner and I could simply enjoy the experience. Kamal had plenty of information about the mountains and trial we were on but also gave us our own time on the trek as needed. Devendra regularly messaged from Kathmandu with words of encouragement and kept checking in on us throughout. It felt we were hiking with friends and family rather than an expedition. We reached EBC with no issues and made our way down happily. We had another 2 nights booked in our hotel in Kathmandu which is essential post trek and the cherry on the top was being invited to dinner with Devendra's family afterwards to celebrate. I cannot think of anything that could have been improved on our trek and as Rai treks are a smaller team we really felt incredibly valued and important, I don't think you'd get this type of service at other larger companies. If you're planning on doing EBC. I cannot recommend Rai treks more, you won't be disappointed. Thank you to Devendra, Kamal and Pramod!

  Seeing the Himalayas and reaching Everest Base Camp has been an ambition of mine for a long time. I was fortunate enough to join a recent trip with a wonderful team to do just that. My trip was organised and facilitated by Devendra Rai and his team. He and our guides Bimal, DK and Kamal are absolute professionals with nothing ever being too much trouble, always knowing the right time to give gentle encouragement and being there for the laughs too. Non of our team’s achievements would have been possible without an outstanding group of porters Santosh, Saroj, Roman, Pramod and Sanjay. I cannot thank them enough for making sure I had what I need throughout the entire journey. Thank you does not seem like enough in all that the team did to make this a trip of a lifetime and in helping me achieve what I set out to do, often being truly out of my comfort zone. I can wholeheartedly recommend this team if you are considering a trekking trip.

  I've just returned from fulfilling a life-long ambition of trekking to Everest Base Camp. The trek was organised and facilitated by Rai Treks. I cannot recommend them highly enough. From airport transfers to accommodation and activities in Kathmandu, through to guiding and porterage in the mountains, Devendra Rai personally supervised our entire 2 week trip. His friendly, calm approach, knowledge and experience, gave me ultimate confidence that I was in safe hands on what, for me, was a holiday where I was very much out of my comfort zone. On the rare occasion there was a minor problem, I was unsure of something, or even when I lost my footing on the trail, Devendra and his team where always immediately on hand, to solve problems, offer words of support, or give a helping hand. It was like they were my guardian angels for 2 weeks, I will be eternally grateful to Devendra, his guides, Bimal, Kamal and DK, and the portering team of Santosh, Saroj, Roman, Pramod and Sanjay. They made my bucket list trip a first class experience. If I am lucky enough to ever return to Nepal, I will be using Rai Treks again and I have no hesitation in recommending you to do the same.

  I signed up for the Everest Base Camp October 2023 trek, alongside a friend and 7 others. I am so glad we went with Rai Treks! Devendra and his wonderful team of guides (DK, Bimal and Kamal) were so attentive to our needs throughout the entire trek and pulled off impressive logistics in the background to ensure everything ran smoothly for us. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone was happy and safe and were one of the many reasons why this trip was so fantastic. Their knowledge of the mountains (both their geographical and cultural significance) at every turn was also impressive, enabling us to learn more than we ever could from a map. The team of porters (Santosh, Saroj, Roman, Pramod and Sanjay) were also fantastic and their hard work massively contributed to making the trip so enjoyable for participants.   Myself and a friend signed up to trek to Everest Base Camp with Rai Trek’s in October 2023, we couldn’t be happier with our choice! Devendra and the team of guides and porters were amazing throughout the whole experience. It all started with a wonderful welcome at the airport from Devendra, which set the standard for his attentiveness and thoughtfulness which he kept up throughout the adventure! Nothing was too much hassle for the team and I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. We definitely couldn’t have done it without them.

  What a trip! Absolutely fantastic. Devendra and his team provided a brilliant experience and everything was exceptionally well organised. Great support was provided throughout the whole trek and I would certainly go trekking with Devendra and his team again.

  An amazing experience with a well organised and run trekking company. Cannot praise the guides and porters enough. I would certainly go trekking with them again. The stops and acclimatisation at lodges were faultless and nothing was too much trouble.
